Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located only a block from our apartment, my family and I have spent plenty of time at Festplassen over the past few days. Our young daughters love seeing all the wildlife that flock to the lake, and the views up to Mount Fløien.

It's an OK square with some nice views, but I wouldn't say it's a must to see. It possibly looks nicer during summer when there are flowers around.

This large paved area is located at the top of Byparken, the City Park and Lille Lungegardsvann lake in the heart of Bergen.
It is where the statue of Christian Michelsen is sited, a local and national politician. As Prime Minister, Michelsen directed the peaceful resolution of the union with Sweden in 1905
It has many uses including the May 17th celebration( Norwegian Constitution Day), also fun fairs, amusement parks, feast days and festivals.
It is interesting place to stroll around.

Art and musical performances and shows building in the center city. Many prominent plays and musical acts perform here. It is one of the centers of performing arts and culture. The building sits up a slight grade facing a park-like and landscaped area. Architecturally the structure is ornate, beauty and impressive. It is located with many other restaurants and shops surrounding the park. Statues and monuments are in the area. Worth a visit.

And on the third day (of the visit), the tourist rested. Even energizer bunnies need to recharge their batteries.
What a find! Not highly touted on the maps and tourist info, find this location inside the square formed by the roads: Christie's Gate, Katgaten, Stromgaten, and Lars Hiles Gate (there aren't any gates however). The theater is at the top of the (small) hill.
The gazebo is surrounded by the most beautiful flowers, hanging and planted, and the statues border between serious and humorous. Two of our favorites were the bullet-shaped exaggerated statue of playwright Henrick Ibsen and the little boy who is reacting to the cold water in a pool (his expression is priceless).
There are fun local places to eat around the park and none of them is crowded with tourists; they tend to be priced more moderately.
As the day progessed, we walked down to the man made lake, did some people-watching, and soaked up some of that rare sunshine. Locals tell us Bergen only gets 70 days of sunshine a year so we counted ourselves fortunate.

This is quite accessible spot by public transport - you can visit train station, market plaza and Bryggen harbor by walk from here. There is a large lake with fountain, beautiful visiting birds, and a garden where children can play. The snaps are really cool.
On the other side of the road is a sculpture with water stream, and yet another more beautiful flower garden - this is a place to be if you want to take cool family photos in Bergen.
Right across the street is the market place where you can shop fashion and eat in restaurants. Bryggen is 10 minutes by walk. You can reach any Bergen spot (including Airport) from here by taking Bybanen or bus as there are plenty of transport connections available from Olav Kyrres gate and Festplassen. Bergen central bus station is about 15 minutes walk from here.

You can reach Festplassen (fest = party) by public transportation. It's at the heart of the city, close to the harbour and the fishmarket.
Festplassen is an open space by the lake, with beautiful views to the surrounding mountains. There's also a small green park around it, that's quite charming.
Festplassen continues up the hill into Byparken, another sweet little park - and all the way up to the Bergen opera (a beautiful art noveau building) - so I do recommend you take a stroll from Festplassen to opera enjoying the views. Lots of cafes and restaurants along the way, too.

The fountain itself is unremarkable; it is located in an octagonal pond, but with sloping views of the city. A short distance from it there is a beautiful gazebo with flowers.
