Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tunnel going westward could be the longest in the world, but I and my family chose the long way and it was breathtaking! On the outpost looking over Aurlandsfjord, I felt insignificant compared to the beauty of nature. I am glad the tourist authority of Norway did not alter the road too much. The narrow and winding bends were charming in themselves.

We were driving about 5km inside the Laerdaltunnel before we realised that... it's just a freakin' tunnel. Might be the longest, but still pretty boring.
So take the Aurlandsvegen instead. We turned around and had no regrets. The view is stunning, even with rain and clouds.
Just make sure to have a creditcard. I don't exactly remember where we encountered the random roadblock on the top of a mountain -miles and miles from the nearest town- but the only way to pay the toll and get past the barrier is with a creditcard. Could be it's not even on this piece of road, but better safe than sorry, right?
Also, the road is closed during winter (and early spring and late autumn) so then you'll have to take the tunnel.

Driving this route is a great experience for the whole family. Along the way there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the scenery. There are snowfields, small lakes, and nice views along the way.

A great place to drive up to and have a view of the Fjords,
Route 50 and 52 offers superb view and driving . Please take these routes instead of E18 and once there go to Flam which is 15 minutes away.

How long is the Aurlandsvegen drive? I want to make sure I plan for enough time to take that route.
