With somewhat limited things to see in Arendal, this is worth a small detour from the city centre. It is also situated down by the water so very lovely on a sunny day. It's one of the oldest and largest wooden buildings in Norway.

Really enjoyed our cruise ship stay in Arendal . We toured the the Town Hall and harbor on our short visit. Well worth the time and effort. Nice cafes to enjoy the scenery. Interesting history of the Town Hall.

Considering it was built as a private home originally, it has been maintained over the many years and also used for many functions and organisations. I would recommend to get a town guide from the tourist office which is the only way to gain entry.
