We were in Oslo in November, so mostly the gardens were covered with snow. However we found "vikings garden" with an example of how vikings grew plants on their boats to get food and also fibre (made from hemp). We also enjoyed tropical-all-year-round Palm House and Victoria House with the Victoria water lily. Finally we went to the Willow Garden... More

This garden area is by all means worth a visit and it's a perfect activity on a sunny spring or on a summer day. Make sure that you don't miss the Zoological Museum which is also a part of the garden.Take a stroll and enjoy.

I visited the Botanical garden in fall and it was very beautiful because of the color of leaves. Other than that I did not think the permanent exhibits were very interesting. I would recommend the Zoology museum which is a part of the garden. Take a stroll through the gardens. :)

Hubby did not want to go to Viking ship museum so after reading reviews I thought this would be next best thing. Sorry - but it isn't. That bit is a small garden area down the bottom of a hill planted in the shape of a small Viking ship. See photo. I enjoyed the Victorian garden and the giant lily... More

We walked through the gardens to get to the Munch museum but actually ended up doing a full tour of this lovely place. The Autumn colours were stunning, there's lots for kids including a Viking longship garden and the hot houses provides a break from the chill. The lily pond was a favourite. The little cafe does great coffee and... More

We cut thru this park on the way to the Munch Museum and then got trapped inside the fence along the fringe when we wanted to leave the area. I actually wish that we had spent more time exploring here after seeing photos by others of some of the oddities and unique things that we missed, particularly the super-sized lily... More

The Gardens are in fact wisely used narrow lane in a suburban eastern Oslo. Shortly upon stepping in, you get estranged of civilization and into a fairy tale wilderness. Big wide trees must have been there for ages, well cared for. In truly Norwegian way, the grounds are diversified with paths, stony areas, lawns and cute tiny corners of full... More

My friend and I spent about an hour and a half exploring the Botanical Gardens. We thought it was great for a free activity. There are several different areas all with their own unique exhibits. The Viking exhibit set up for children was fun even for 20 somethings. There is a lot of change in elevation here. We had fun... More
