- Erina HOslo, Norway315 contributionsOne of my favorite places in OsloThis is such a great park! It’s less than 2 km from Oslo Central Station and you can easily walk there. It’s a bit of an ascent in the beginning, but nice and flat walkways on the top. The scenic views of the Oslo fjord and the city are spectacular. Enjoy a stroll on the many trails in the woods, the open view overlooking Hundesletta (the grassy area where you can let your dog run freely while playing with its dog friends), have a coffee at the cafeteria, watch the animals at the little farm or maybe catch a soccer tournament at Ekebergsletta. And last but not least; enjoy finding all the sculptures installed all over the park! Some of them are not so obvious to find, so make sure you spend some time up there. It’s one of those wonderful green lungs where you’ll find people running, walking their dogs, having a picnic, riding horses, biking…just enjoying the outdoors.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 May 2024
- BandyrobsLondon, United Kingdom292 contributionsMindfulness moments a plentyJust a short tram ride from Opera Ekeberg is a wonderful place to stroll in the peace and quiet of the countryside. The climb up from the tram stop is steep and could be challenging for some, but the gravel paths are wide and flat. Lots of birds to see and listen to. As you stroll, you will see many interesting sculptures..some not for the feint hearted!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 May 2024
- RichardNorth Wales, United Kingdom5 contributionsWonderful collection of art with great viewsWhat an amazing place, we went initially for the views of the city not realising the incredible collection of art they have. Victoria in the shop and museum was so helpful and enthusiastic, she inspired us to stay longer and see artworks we'd missed. The highlight being the installation by Fujiko Nakaya that fills the forest with mist.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 June 2024
- Aly F12 contributionsMagical outdoor sculpture parkLoved exploring this park! It was raining at the start and so hiding out under the trees was magical. Take a pic of the park map and sculptures and then let yourself wander and be surprised by what you come across. Took the 19 tram up and was glad to have done that as it’s on the top of the hill. Beautiful city views. The history of the park during WWII was also another layer to absorb.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 23 June 2024

Came here with my mother (90years) on a warm and sunny June day. Because of Covid 19, the experience was of course a bit different, but when I asked to move our table a meter to the side, so that my mother would sit in the shadow, the waitress said no, because there wouldn’t be enough space to walk back and forth between the tables, even though there were a lot of space. She didn’t take any initiative to find another solution either. I was sweating and there were almost no cold lunches at the Meny. Only one salad (potato, beans, cottage cheese + one or two ingredients). There were also just about 5 dishes for us to choose for lunch, outdoor.
It took a long time to get the pizza we ended up sharing (btw, no gluten free options, even though I shouldn’t eat gluten), and there weren’t a lot of guests either (people were in a que in front, but the 2meter apart rule, made the restaurant incapable of many guests. The waitress could also be nicer and considering the price (only two prawn sandwiches is 500kr!! - way to much), the visit felt more like something you would regret using that kind of money on.
Also, they could have had a panorama view, but they’ve let some trees grow pretty tall, so the sight is minimized.
As Norwegians, we are used the expense eating out, but the prices are still insanely high, and I feel sorry for the tourists, who get this experience visiting our beautiful country.

We took the tram to Ekeberg Park and started walking up towards the restaurant. It didn’t take long before we started seeing the statues. My other half was, I think justifiably, concerned about taking young children up to 12 years among the “art” work. After a quick look at the view over Oslo harbour we retreated to the tram stop and returned to the town.
A great shame as otherwise the location and nature were excellent.

This statue park is a good foil for Vigelandsparken.. this one has many artists over many years with each piece standing alone. It’s easy to get to the park by tram. Before you come, take a picture of the map to know where you are going and maybe look online to pick out which is the pieces you want to walk to. Be aware that there are not a lot of bathrooms and these will cost you to enter. And.. museum and cafe are not open everyday. You could spend many hours here and get a lot of hiking done as well.

The park is easy to access, just a short tram ride outside of the center of town. It is serene and peaceful, popular with locals on a Sunday, but not crowded.
The park is a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Oslo. Serene.
The sculptures provide several highlights during the standard 2 kilometer walk around the park.
This is a recommended break from the museums.

Great afternoon walk through a park! The park is up on a hill, so it provides wonderful views of the downtown area and harbour, The park is hilly, but mostly forested, so even if it is warm, there is shade. Lots of great statues, a couple of slightly racy ones right at the entrance, but no big deal. There are a couple of Rodins and a Dali right near the entrance, and should you feel like fine dining there is a restaurant with a patio that has a fabulous view. A good suggestion is to take a picture of the map at the entrance, to help navigate and find all the art.

A short tramway ride from the city centre and you have all this wide open space with fantastic views and quirky sculptures by world famous artists. Easy level route or if you prefer more challenging, follow the steps along the paths. A must see every visit to Oslo! Superb café/restaurant near the entrance to the park.

Park located just couple of tram stops from the city center is ideal not only for a walk, but also if you want to get magnificent views of the city. This large park is well know especially for various sculptures.
In the park is also a cafe, restaurant as well as museum shop.

This park is probably the best attraction in Oslo and a bit of a hidden gem. The best experience is to walk up the hill, the path offers a lot of interesting information about the origins and geology, from the Ice Age onwards. At the top there is a great view of Oslo harbour with the Munch museum and Opera. Across the area are some 50 impressive sculptures by top artists, starting from Rodin, Maillol and Dali to contemporary sculptors. All of the pieces are very good, but it takes a lot of walking in the forest, which is an extra bonus. We missed the light artwork by James Turrell under the pond, you have to be there at special hours in the afternoon (guided). Take a picture of the map with all the sculptures at the restaurant, because otherwise you wil have trouble finding them all. Oh, and Munch painted his Scream here.

There is plenty of storage available at the Central station. The trams stop outside the station to take you to the park.

I've heard the best public transit stop to use is Sjømansskolen as that is the one closest to the visitor centre etc.
Any clue which tram or bus is best to get? I'm staying in Tøyen but I'm happy to get a T-Bane, tram or bus from the city centre.
Thanks

We took the tram (18 or 19 both work, I believe) from City Centre; it's maybe a 10-15 minute ride, and the stop - to my recollection - was called "Ekebergparken". It's an uphill walk from the tram station to the main buildings of the park.
