This was tipped as one of the most scenic train rides in Europe, and about an hour or so into the 6.5hr trip you begin to see why. It shows Norway's scenery off very well. We had pre-booked seats in "Komfort Class". The only difference...More

The "Norway in a Nutshell" trip is the reason you go to Norway. We decided to expand the experience by a couple days, but if your time is tight I'd stay with the original Nutshell schedule. The train ride is beautiful and well worth your...More

We were very keen to secure tickets on the Oslo-Bergen train, so we arranged to purchase tickets 5 months beforehand through Rail Ninja. But the tickets never arrived. When we followed up with Ninja it appeared that they had forgotten about us and advised that...More

Had travelled this line before in late winter when everything was under snow. So nice to see the scenery with so much melt water cascading into the fjords. The streams were running powerfully and there was still some snow as we crossed the top at...More

Gorgeous scenery between Oslo and Bergen. This trip did not disappoint. The fjords and glaciers, rivers and lakes lived up to the great expectations set by our seasoned travelling friends. If you have the time, take the trip.

This was not on my radar, it was the way I got to voss, but it's the most fabulous 5 1/2 hours travel I've ever had and I didn't want it to end. Put it on your bucket list, get a window seat on the...More

It takes about seven hours from Oslo to Bergen by train, mostly it's cheaper than flying and if you go by night you can sleep all the way. If you go by day be prepared to see some stunning naturescenes, but just in case bring...More

We took the Bergen Railway from Oslo to Flam. The train was very comfortable. There were also assigned seats on the train which was nice. There was ample space to store our luggage while on the train. It would've been nice to have a bit...More

Took this trip from Bergen to Oslo on a July morning. The train left on time and took about 7 hours. It's a comfortable journey although a little expensive. The Norwegian landscape is breathtaking and awe inspiring.

The train was clean and well run. It was on time and the seats were comfortable. The club car was good.

Greetings: My husband and I are flying to Norway on July 18, 2017. We are spending 2 nights in Oslo and moving on to Bergen by train. The current plan is to spend two nights in Bergen before boarding the Hertigruten cruise north for 4 nights, getting off in Tromos. From there we are flying inn to Stockholm. My question is: When we take the train from Oslo to Bergen is it advised to add the Nutshell tour portion knowing we are also going on the cruise north? The nutshell tour sounds amazing but doing the whole trip in one day sounds like a lot to do and it will be peak tourist time when we are there. We could spend one night midway in the tour cutting our time in Bergen to 1 night and just part of a day before boarding the cruise. Seeking advice about simply taking the train straight to Bergen and enjoying that city for 2 nights and 1.5 days or should we see as much as possible including the nutshell tour and cutting our time in Bergen? Thank you so much. Kristy

Hi kristy, I would spend two days in Bergen, there is so much to see and do that I feel you would be short changing yourself. Bergen very rich in its culture that I'd plump for four days rather than a shorter stay, make... More
