Free entrance to a very interesting fortress. The Visitor Center is very good. The Resistance Museum has a charge. The views from the ramparts are spectacular. I wish we could have gone into the actual castle.

Walk around see the old fort, cannons and beautiful city views. Some has been rebuilt but still history and worth the walk.

A castle not very impressive, neither by its architecture, nor by its size, nor by its location. In addition, the visiting schedule is reduced in the cold season, so it is difficult to visit the interior.
There are a few points from which you have a beautiful view of the port.

We’ve toured a number of castles in Europe and were not disappointed by Akershus. Most was self-guided and with very complete signage (in English as well as Norwegian). You could spend hours there walking the grounds, but we focused on touring the castle and the Resistance Museum. So glad we stopped by the Resistance Museum, very informative.

Didn’t actually go inside but just walked around the outside. Interesting views and buildings. Worth looking at if nearby.

Great experience. The castle dates back to ca. 1300 with additions all the way up to our times. Very beautiful surroundings offering stunning views. Unfortunately, the castle proper was closed during my visit.

Lovely noble walking area of Oslo, right facing the sea, sprinkling charm with the combination of Nordic architecture and abundant greenry. Ideal all the day long.

Lovely place and very suggestive. We’ve been there in November on a Sunday morning, very few people and nice breeze. 🍂 the autumn made it better, but all the inner museums/ exhibitions were closed

Construction of the castle began around the late 1290s by Håkon V, it was completed during the 14th century. Akershus is the old medieval fortress serving as the representative of the king. . It had a strategic position on Akersneset, and withstood a number of sieges throughout the ages .. Under Christian IV (1588-1648), the castle was converted into a Renaisssance castle and royal residence. Akershus has also been a prison. Currently, the fortress houses several museums inside
Beautiful view of the Oslofjorden, the harbor, the Aker Brygge, and the Tjuvholmen. The royal necropolis, as well as the Norwegian military and resistance museums, were closed when I visited. Free entry to walk around. Worth a visit
