This site was interesting and offered English translated, hand held tour guides. I would recommend a walk through this eery location and doubt you'll be disappointed. Use a bathroom before you enter the site.

Great area, museums to visit. One guards patrolling the area. Live cannons at always cool. Great view of the city around.

Walked around this castle with medieval feeling. Had a picnic lunch on the grass with a great view. Landmark.

This is a lovely bit of Oslo. If here, be sure to eat at Festningen. There is the Resistance Museum, but it wasn't opened by the time we got to the park

Another fab gem in Oslo. Just to walk around and relax. Sit and admire the view. its right on the water front. Everyday there was a cruise liner docked. The size of the fortress is amazing. Highly recommend a visit.

As others have said, the fortress is free; a large area to walk around and a glorious walk around the harbour to get there (if the weather is kind). The castle interior entry is 70NOK for adults and 50NOK for seniors. I... More
