Drive to the roundabout at Kanebogen Shopping Centre (3km south of Harstad city centre). Go past Shell petrol station. Turn right at the second road, Gamle Stangnesvei. From here it is signposted to the car park. Map available at the tourist office. Necessary equipment: None. Map: Walking map of Harstad (1:30 000) Marked trail: No. Good path. Drinking water: No. Route description: Good trail to the top. Rolling birch ground. There are benches and a binocular on the top. Fantastic views across the city of Harstad.

This is a very short, and not too exhausting hike to a small "mountaintop" in Harstad. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the top, and when you get there, you will be rewarded with a great view over Harstad city. It is possible to take the trip both in summer and winter, but you may need a headlight... More

This is a relatively easy hike that we saw many families with small children doing. Once at the top it provides a great view of the city. No total it's about a 45 minute round trip hike.

Even the unfit can make this climb - take your time, pause often & you'll get to the top without a red face & dripping sweat. The view in all directions is endless on a clear day. It is not a difficult climb but you need to be in good shape nevertheless. Fully worth the climb as the view on top is stunning. We were fortunate as we started in the fog but once on top the weather cleared and we could see the entire vista. There is a covered place on top with a table and... More

You cannot visit Harstad without taking a walk up to Gangsåstoppen. The view from the top is absolutely stunning, you can see the whole city, and the sea and mountains in all directions.
