The Volksgarten is a large, beautifully maintained classical park right in the heart of Vienna, off the Ringstrasse and opposite the Parliament building. It has a huge number of chestnut and other trees and many flower beds. When we were there in mid May the roses were just coming out and looked so lovely. There are very many seats so... More

The garden is full of sights from the classic to modern times. It is worth a stroll through or take a seat and let the world pass you by.

This garden is large and is located opposite the Austrian Parliament building.. Like most gardens and streets in Vienna it is well maintained. It is adjacent to the Hofburg so take a break here before visiting.

The garden is located between Rathaus and Hofburg palace so you can walk to the garden and take a break before visiting another place. We visit the garden in the first week of May and it is too early for roses to bloom.

Over-30s who still like to party might be interested in the excellent club night on Thursdays at the Volksgarten night club. Several rooms feature a range of music, and there's a nice grown-up vibe.

Saturday afternoon and there were number of people just lying in the grass having a picnic, relaxing. The bar at the Palmhaus was crowded too. We got a chance to see a group of dancers filming their promotion video, which was very pleasant to see.

Its a park in the middle of most of turists' attractions so if you get tired its a great place to stop by and relax a bit admiring amazing view of flowers and colors with the beautiful architecture in the background.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
