The area
Neighbourhood: Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

    Lovely public garden along Ringstraße
This is one of several monument filled public parks along Vienn'a Ringstraße. Burggarten is the former private garden of the Hapsburgs just beside the Palace which was opened to the public in 1919. The park is open from 6am to 8pm (summer months) and 7 to 5.30pm (winter months) and is beautiful year round. I've enjoyed seeing Burggarten under a layer of snow as well as during warmer months like this past September when the park was vibrantly green, well suited for afternoon visitors basking in the sun on the grassy lawns or retreating to the shade of the benches that line the western end of the garden. You'll find a handful of interesting statues within the garden grounds, something fun for those who enjoy monument viewing. Also look for the charming Palmenhaus in the back near the Palace where you can enjoy a round or two of drinks outside on their terrace during nice weather. Overall, Burggarten is a nice city park conveniently located for a quick pass through even on the busiest of sightseeing schedules around Vienna. For park lovers, it's worth targeting as a place to spend a bit of time while in the city.

    A must place to visit
Attractive gardens and a good place for lunch or just a coffee. Don’t forget the butterfly house with its well stocked plants and watch the emerging butterflies. The buildings themselves are very attractive and worthy of many photos.

Grand public park filled with history...and lots of people enjoying a summer's day!
Once the royal gardens, the Burggarten is a public park, with lots of grass and trees. As we entered, we immediately walked by the Palm House (also known as the Glass House) was built in the early 1900s. It has three sections, one used as a greenhouse, one as a butterfly house, and the middle one as a cafe. Certainly lovely to look at! On the Sunday afternoon we were there, the park was filled with families and couples sitting on the lawn, playing, sleeping, reading, eating, and people watching. We walked about to see some of the sites, notably the statue of Franz Josef I, the long-ruling Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, and the Mozart Monument, which was surrounded by people shooting selfies and group photos in front of it. We grabbed a spot on the lawn to relax and enjoy the day!

A lovely space but a lot of it was undergoing work when we visited so not accessible due to being fenced off. It was November when we visited and I bet it is glorious in the Spring and Summer. Glad I visited anyway despite the disruption.

Park surrounded by Hofburg from one side, Albertina from other. Many other attractions, mostly architectural perks are in walking distance. When we were there, there was farmers market. Great place to sit on grass, enjoy nice weather and feel few centuries back. Great to see in good weather

Once the private gardens of the Austrian Imperial family, Burggarten is now a public park that borders the Hofburg Palace. There are several monuments in the park, but the most popular is undoubtedly the monument to Mozart.

Most likely you'll be somewhere around this park if you're visiting Vienna and it's worth a look as it's so close to the many attractions of the city. In the summer, it's a great place to be, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the park, the flowers or just take a rest.

Burggarten is a large park in Vienna Inner City, located next to the Imperial Palace Hofburg, Palmenhaus , and Burgring.

Four monuments and statues decorates the Park:

1-The Mozart monument
2-Solemen statue of the Emperor Franz Joseph I.

3-Equestrian statue of Franz Joseph I on his horse

4-Hercules fighting the Nemean lion incorporated into a small fountain.

The Burggarten Vienna Garden  was laid out in the year 1818 as a private garden of the emperor on an area of 38.000 m². Directly at beside the Hofburg and the Albertina.

Emperor Franz who was an educated gardener participated in the planning and selected new types of plants from all over the world. The emperor used his private green house for relaxing and brought with it the nature into the center of Vienna.

An amazing garden ideal for long walks, especially on a sunny day. Dedicated to Motsar, the note of flowers makes it special and as the lake.
