Coaches and carriages of emperors and gowns and dresses of empresses The Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna in Schonbrunn Palace invites you to take a walk through the history of Austria. See the carriages of famous rulers such as Maria Theresia, Napoleon or Franz Joseph and accompany them through their eventful lives. The highlight is the baroque Imperial Coach, but there are also exquisite state carriages, comfortable travelling coaches and the charming children’s carriages of Habsburg princes and princesses. Another highlight is the »Sisi Trail« that showcases not only the Empress’ carriages but also personal mementos such as her only extant saddle, her »riding chapel«, and sumptuous original dresses.

We weren't planning on making a detour to this museum when we were visiting Schonbrunn Palace but I'm so glad we did! The carriages are simply amazing (I particularly liked the funeral carriage) and the museum also has a few of Empress Elisabeth's dresses and...More

We were amazed by this museum. It was one of our favorite things we saw in Vienna, and that is saying a lot! The carriages were simply wonderful, completely fairy tale like. The royal hearse was beyond belief! We have seen the Royal Mews, these...More

This museum collection is situated at Schonbrunn Palace and displays the royal carriages of the Hapsburgs. The carriages are quite beautiful and opulent. It is worth seeing if you go to the palace.

How interesting is the carriage museum especially now with the 300 anniversary of Maria Therese. The carriages are amazing especially the coronation one (the queen of England could be seen as the poor relation: her coaches are so....restrained!) and there is (as always in Vienna)...More

What a nice museum about all those carriages. A modern auto lover will be jaloers on all those "old timers" (with out a engine!)

The carriage museum is in the grounds and definitely worth a look if you are there. There are some beautiful carriages and displays and particularly the imperial coach. You won't spend more than an hour but worth doing.

A great add on if you are visiting Schonbrunn Palace. The carriages are beautiful and there are some old imperial outfits on show as well. It's like stepping back in time looking at some of the pieces. You wouldn't spend long here but definitely worth...More

This museum is situated at the Schoenbrunn Palace. I would have thought that would be very few of this type of museum in the world but this museum displays carriages used by the Austrian royal family. It is a small museum and doesn't take long...More

Located in Schönbrunn Palace, the Wagenburg is a museum which shows the carriages and vehicles used by the members of the Austrian Imperial Family. Nice to see but no must-see!

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
