Unlike other places in Vienna, this place is where locals meet. After an exhausting tour in and around Vienna this is a nice place to relax. We've enjoyed having a cocktail. In summer it's a great place to hang around and enjoy the warm summer nights, listen to the local dialect and contemplate about moving to Vienna because it is... More

Vienna is a city packed with museums and this is the museum hotspot of the city. Not only you can see here beautiful buildings and many museums, but some of the greatest places in Vienna for history, art and natural history enthusiasts. Not to be missed!

This is IMHO one of the most hippest place in the city. With 2 main museums and all the open space areas a very cool place to enjoy and simultaneously to hangout with a cool drink to watch the people passing by. A must see when in Vienna!

This is a great museum site, well decorated and full of surprises, like the painted archways and the green benches. The little lake/pond across from the Klimt museum was really sweet.

We enjoyed this area of the city which was just a short walk from our hotel, The Altstadt. We loved the Natural History Museum and the MUMOK is great but if you're a bit prudish then give the contemporary exhibitions a miss as they can be very risque!

We happened upon this walking back from a trip down the Danube river. It is magnificent. You walk and walk and feel like an ant beside the pillars. Its another must see. Close to the high end shopping area.

Very interesting place to visit with different options of museums from modern art to early modernism. There is an open square in the center with restaurants and modern seats to just enjoy the good weather.

Thank Beatriz M

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
