The tour of the crypt was a definite 5-star for me. The guide spoke fluent colloquial English. Graveyard overspill necessitated digging out a crypt under the church, then under the surrounding buildings... Thousands of bodies were put in wooden coffins which were stacked floor to...More

We visited this church in April especially for the crypt tour and it did not disappoint. The Tour takes you through the church briefly then down into its crypt's where it has an amazing collection of coffins, especially painted coffins and some mummies. The Tour...More

We were in the city centre so it was walking distance from the apartment. Hard to get pictures from the outside as there is limited space for it. The interior of the church is beautiful and you can still light real candles.

there are places of interest, places of awe and places of beauty - this has aspects of all three and if one picks the right time one can get something rare - a moment of peace in which to reflect.

My understanding in that this church used to be a private one for the exclusive use of the Royal Family. I briefly stopped here on my way to the Hapsburg Palace and its related attractions. Said my prayers here and took some pictures. Outside, I...More

The Michaeliskirche in the center of Vienna is worth a visit. The altar is beautiful, with angels and gold decoration. The church organ is also impressive.

One of the most beautiful churches in Vienna. The altar in particular is breathtaking and I found it to be a far more uplifting experience to that of St Stephen's Cathedral. Definitely worth visiting - you will not be disappointed.

You wouldn’t or couldn’t imagine what awaits you inside this church from its outside appearance. It’s beautiful inside. Baroque in style and grand in scale. Very clean and in excellent shape. The organ is most impressive!!

Not as grand as St Stephen's Cathedral, but it is definitely worth checking it out. Not as impressive on the outside, but the inside makes up for it. I do regret that we weren't able to do the catacombs tour.

Worth a quick peek (allow up to 1.5 hours if you want to do the tour of the crypt). Admission is free but you can leave a small donation. Photos are allowed. Located right next to the main entrance to the Hofburg, this is the...More

If you don't mind being in a crowded elevator with, say, 20 people, then you should be fine in St Michael's crypt. The only additional elements to contend with is the dim light and, if you are superstitous, all the dead... More
