Neighbourhood: Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We accidentaly got into this place and it was just the best place to have dinner. We ordered their schnitzel with potatoes salad. Its cost 22€. Also we ordered the apfelstudel and it was delicious.
We also had as entertament a very nice lady that played the piano.
At the end on the bill there is a tax that you pay for your chair at the table. It was 2,80€.

We were lucky to get a table at this restaurant as most other places in surrounding were fully booked! Waiters and service were really good and so was the quality of the food. Both of us had the typical Wiener Schnitzel dish and here is where the problem starts... servings are about half of what you get at same cost in other well-known restaurants in the area! Also there is an additional steep cover fee for three bread crumbs which isn’t noted anywhere! All-in-all we felt ripped-off a bit and would not come again!

Found this place will walking around old town. The restaurant is tucked behind other buildings and has a historic vibe. The food was excellent, we had the stuffed lasagna and beef goulash. Would definitely recommend to others looking for traditional Viennese food.

I had read about this restaurant and it turned out to be across the street from our hotel. We ate outside and it was fun, the service was great and the food was very good. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Recommend.

Finally tried some Austrian food on our 4th day in Vienna. Servers were friendly and nice. Food is great! With live music. Highly recommended!
My son is 5 years old and we feel very comfortable dining there. Very accommodating. Thank you!

Happened upon this place while looking for another highly-rated TA restaurant, but when we got to that one they were closed due to a private a party. This was in a lovely location in-between beautiful buildings covered in ivy and other crawling greenery. It was a happening scene with lots of folks coming and going well into the late hours on this Friday night. We had an amazing salad to start...the chef's special, with figs, pumpkin, mixed greens, etc. It was unique and quite tasty. My wife's Weiner Schnitzel was just OK but my lamb chops were outstanding. We finished off with an apple strudel which seemed like it came out of a microwave as the crust was soft and a bit mushy.

the Griechenbeisl is a Vienna experience only a damn fool would pass up. My wife and I went there on the "honeymoon" trip we delayed until our 25th wedding anniversary. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!! Not simply because the food was marvelous (it was). Not just because we had amazing service in a FASCINATING venue (It was and it was!), but we have now spent four years playing the "Hey y'know what was already (X number of years) in existence when THAT happened? THE GRIECHENBEISL!!! It started with lots of jokes about Christopher Columbus and has continued on with about every single historical show we watch. Even if it DIDN'T exist yet, we find ourselves saying "Y'know.... only X years until they have the Griechenbeisl!" This is not to be missed! A delight of a night.

We wanted to feel some of the austrian culture. This restaurant is definitely part of this definition.
The pianist was great.
The food was excellent - we ate 2 soups, salmon and sirloin.
The waitress were very kind.
Highly recommended.
