EXPERIENCE HUNDERTWASSER UP CLOSE: Art - Achitecture - Nature - Vision Two intriguing museums experiences await the visitors at the KUNST HAUS WIEN. The Museum Hundertwasser presents the world's biggest collection of Austrian exceptional artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928 -2000): his world famous paintings, fine art prints, tapestries and architectural designs. Here you can immerse yourself in his imaginative world of art inside and out - colorful walls and uneven floors in the interior, the artistic façade with tiles and color fields on the outside. "Tree tenants" grow from the windows, plants and flowers inhabit the rooftop and inner courtyard. In Vienna's first "green museum" one can sense Hundertwasser's visionary mind and experience his ecological engagement on site. Beyond that the KUNST HAUS WIEN is Vienna's premier house for photography exhibitions: changing exhibitions introduce the biggest names of photography to a wide audience.

I regularly visit the Kunst Haus and always find something new. Of particular interest are the temporary exhibitions on the top floor. Usually this space hosts photography exhibitions. The last one I saw (on display until the end of August 2017) is by the Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky on the theme 'Water'. It is simply fascinating. Of course the Hunderwasser... More

Do not miss this jewel. Not only are the works and projects of Hundertwasser to be seen, but also other exhibitions (Wasser by E. Burtinsky). Visit the coffee Tian, because there too, you will be in the midst of Hundertwasser art.

The building is always worth a visit (although you can also head over to the Hundertwasser village a few blocks away). The permanent exhibition is colourful and quirky and there are often good photography exhibitions (just €2 extra). I always take my visitors, even if it's just for a quick glimpse at the building and a coffee.

Full disclosure- I have always loved Hundertwasser so this was always going to be a favourite for me. It is very different to the rest of Vienna though as he was quite an eccentric and alternative personality (as reflected by his refusal to allow any flat floors- this means it may not be the best location for wheelchairs or the... There is Hundertwasser's museum, interesting exhibitions, funny and crazy architecture - interior and exterior - and great Tian bistro in one building. Come here if you want to have a rest from the majestic and strict main sights of Wien! Close to Prater so combine this on your way there, close to No.1 tram stop. The typical Hundertwasser's block of... More

LOVED this little museum. Wonderful art by Hundertwasser. And the building itself, the interior design so inspirational. Get you thinking outside the box. There is a wonderful little cafe on the first floor, so plan on a nice lunch. Something to be aware of, I had a hard time finding the place. Seem to walk in circles. Also, make sure... More

This is not a must-go place in Vienna. There is only one building which is Wasser and its the museum. I was hoping there are other buildings which are by Wasser but only the museum building itself. The building outside and inside is quite exotic; I especially liked the floors and stairs which were bumpy and natural. This differentiated itself... More

The museum is unusual in that its design is as quirky as the works it houses. The works of Hundertwasser are interesting and their presentation on the wavy, colorful walls makes them more so. The floors are purposely uneven too. We especially enjoyed the special exhibit by Martin Parr.
