Zoo Vienna, the oldest existing zoo in the world founded in 1752. Schonbrunn Zoo was voted Europe's best in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Schonbrunn Zoo is the perfect place for a journey into the fascinating world of the animal kingdom. Open year round, it combines the highlights of the natural world with an unparalleled history as the world's oldest and Europe's best zoo. It is part of Schonbrunn as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listed site and home to more than 700 species of animals. Marvel at the Giant pandas, tigers, orangutans, koalas and elephants, immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest in the heart of Europe. Moderated feeding sessions, guided tours and a trip aboard the panorama train turn a trip to the zoo into an unforgettable experience.

Like all zoos it's up and down hill. The polar bear hides and only comes out around feeding time but all other attractions are great. Lots of animals too see. Relatively good prices for food and drinks inside the zoo aswell.

This is a relatively small zoo but offered closer viewing of large cats, elephants, hippopotamus , rhinos and polar bears than I have ever had. Most enjoyable.

The zoo is incorporated in the grounds of Shonbrunn Palace. It is large with a great variety of animals. First time I ever saw bats in a zoo, fascinating. Ample space for the animals to wander around in their enclosures. Takes a whole morning to...More

Zoo is near Schoenbrunn Palace so you can visit two place in one trip. You will need several hours to fully see every animal there.

Great zoo but there are huge distances between the animals. The best part is that there are pandas :)

Nice are to go out, but somehow disappointing in contents. Areal is not excessive, and species diversity is moderate. Also often it seems that animals have small space.

Excellent layout. This zoo gives you an easy view of all their own animals without them being stuck in small little cages. I must admit I went to the zoo to see the pandas but due to the recent birth of some baby pandas, the...More

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down
