This is one of the famous street in Innsbruck. You will find plenty of shops, cafe, Tyrol mall and galleria and famous gelato ice cream. You will find queue here most of the time. And believe me it’s awesome. I have been here recently during Easter and you will see a lot of people enjoying their time. For me it was easy one as my hotel was just at the street corner. The street will take you straight to golden roof. You will also find info desk on other side of street to have Innsbruck card or any other info. You can see the view of nordketten mountain from here. Perfect for evening relax strolling.

It was the first place I visited after arriving in Innsbruck, as my hotel was located next to the Triumphal Arch where Maria-Theresie Street begins. The view of the Alps from here was literally magnificent. This street was lined with shops and restaurants, there were several churches and probably the most prominent feature of this street St. Anna's Column. There were always a lot of people here during the day and in the evening, but try to walk here early in the morning! You will hardly meet anyone and you can enjoy the beauty of this place.

I would define it as the shopping street par excellence in Innsbruck. Lots of shops selling the best brands, some galleries where you can certainly find items at prices that are not low, but certainly lower than the Christmas markets. Many cafes where you can stop and also a SPAR where you can get something to eat at a good price.

Maria-Theresien-Strasse is the largest and widest street in Innsbruck's old town. In addition to several important historical buildings such as the Spitalskirche, the New Town Hall and the Servitenkirche, it is also Innsbruck's main shopping street and there are numerous shops here. Many large retail chains are represented here and the Kaufhaus Tyrol is also located there. There is also an extensive range of restaurants.

So when you enter the old town, you are instantly stunned by the historical center of Innsbruck, you think you’ve seen the most impressive part, but when you continue here, you are stunned again! Beautiful buildings are on both sides of the street, shopping and dining is happening here, lots and lots of people hanging out in the cafés, on the benches and around the monuments. It felt like the weekend, not the beginning of the week. And that view on the mountains is to die for!!!

This street is very nice because on each side there’s nice and old houses. There’s a lot of shops and the street is very busy especially when the weather is nice like today. What is exceptional in this street is that it’s the only one when you rise your head that you have a fantastic view on the mountain.

The street is the main street in Innsbruck. It felt more like a pedestrian mall but there were Christmas Markets on at the time. Lots of restaurants and shopping areas. The information is also nearby. The Golden Roof and old town square is just a bit further down the road. It was a nice place to walk about and experience Chrismas in Austria.

I love this old town. Been here several times down through the years. Summer or winter, it never fails to impress. Clean. Safe. Happy feel to it. Great variety of boutique shops and restaurants. Easy walking access to the funicular and many of the museums. Good access to public transport and road networks. Superb views of the mountains.

The street in Innsbruck that is actually completely pedestrianized and stops at the Altstadt.
The street offers many shops, restaurants and cafes with the inevitable terraces.
Very cozy and always a lot of people present, especially during the skiing period.

Easily wheel chair accessible I have an electric scooter and loved being able to ride the long street and people watch. Beautiful buildings and lovely views of the alps behind you. Several street performers. Funny to see a Plant Hollywood Restaurant in this area.

Hiya, I am thinking of visiting for the Christmas Market. Has anyone had experience of it? Also is it an expensive place as I know Austria is quite expensive. Thankyou
Written 1 November 2016
I visited during September, so cannot comment about the Christmas market but there is a lot of area for christmas and other shops. The overall area including the Altstadt (old town) is quite expensive since it's the prime tourist spot and Innsbruck is also famous for the skiing activities, so I expect the prices to be on the higher side during Christmas. As an example, small souvenirs would cost around 5-8 euros each. Restaurants are also mid to high range; a drink and a main course item would be 15-20 euros each. Also please note that most of the restaurants in this area close by 23:00 hrs and late night options are very limited - pizza shop, street side stall, McDonalds and a doner shop. There are lot of modern and branded stores also around. You can visit austria official info for information related to christmas market.
Hope this helps, and wish you a good trip to the beautiful Innsbruck.
