Domkirche is a baroque/gothic cathedral from the 15th century. It is located in the center of Graz. Graz is second biggest city in Austria and there is so much history there to explore. The inside of the church has a beautiful and eye dropping interior. The mausoleum is also worth visiting.

A visit to the cathedral in Graz belongs on the to-do list. The cathedral is a very interesting church with a beautiful altar front. The cathedral is located right next to the Mausoleum in Graz. No entrance fee was charged on my day of visit. Very worth seeing.

Located right next to the Mausoleum and very close to the stair tower deserves a quick visit. Outside beautiful fresco representing the 3 evils that struck the city. Inside 2 beautiful reliquary chests.

The cathedral (Domkirche) in Graz is magnificent. The Cathedral is a mix of Gothic and Baroque style. It was built at the time Graz was the seat of Emperor Frederick III, in the 15th century. Graz Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Giles. It is the seat of the bishop of the Steiermark diocese. The exterior of the cathedral looks very sober today. In the Gothic period, however, the facades were covered with paintings. One cool has been preserved, the so-called Gottesplagenbild ('God's Plagues'). Marks the terrible plague of the late 15th century. Since it was considered to be the plague of God's punishment, the fresco displays a plea for forgiveness and reconciliation.
The frescoes in the church date from the times of Emperor Frederick III. Among them: a fragment showing St. Christopher, clearly recognizable as Frederick wearing the Styrian ducal crown. The interior of the church is richly decorated and full of beautiful paintings.
It feels good energy and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Beautiful church, definitely worth a visit! Interesting to compare it to the style of churches in Vienna, as well as to those in Italy, which are of course the ultimate model.

A relatively small cathedral but the baroque interior is quite impressive. We went for the Sunday mass and spent another 30 minutes in there afterwards. Don't miss the paintings on the south side.

The inside of the cathedral is beautiful and it is free to get inside.

Be sure to check out the mural of the Three Plagues (the Black Death, the Turks, and locusts) on the south outside wall (near the mausoleum).

An interesting building built on a slope which made for steep steps on one side. Walk around to the other side if you want to avoid the climb. Inside there were some lovely chandeliers and woodwork, but a pity that the altar painting was covered by a curtain, even during mass. Very dar side chapels, couldn't see much. Outside there was an unusual wall painting of old Graz, with good explanations in German and English.

This is a magnificent Baroque/Gothic cathedral from the 15th century. We spent some time marveling at the beautiful interior. Well worth a quick visit as it is located in the center of the old town.
