Beautiful place in the heart of Linz

Cosy restaurants and beautiful buildings. There is a lot going on but never crowded. It's definitely worth a visit!

So I'm not sure what else to say about it. I visited the Christmas Market there and it was a bit underwhelming. Also disappointing was that the tourist office kept really limited hours

Cated in the centre of the main square (Hauptplatz), which, with an area of roughly 13,000m2, has been one of the largest urban squares in Europe, that functions as a market place.

Visited at the beginning of December. The Christmas market was in place: beautiful lights everywhere. Kiosks selling local crafts, hot alcoholic cider and fruit punches, chocolates and cookies as well as savory food (simple things such as hot dogs). The square is very alive in the evening: full of locals and tourists walking and singing. Lots of restaurants and cafes... More

Typical square in Europe, but it's still a must see in Linz. Do walk around the small streets, you will find nice antique and restaurant. It's good if you ride bike too.

I was a child when I visited Linz with my parents 50 years ago, I found it now perfectly maintained in its full splendour. To see again central monument, the church and all old buildings around so beutiful was a great pleasure for me. After passing through small Xmas market stands and eathing some non forgetable "Bratwurst mitt Sauerkrout", listening... More

The most expensive Xmas market i have ever visited...more expensive than Hamburg - Leipzig - Hyde Park. ...and no atmosphere, no music ambience ...actually rather sterile and unwelcoming ....The LOCATION is fabulous...Historic beautiful and captivating, the Market however doesn't add to the attractiveness of the >Hauptplatz< it's just >There< in the middle and that's it!

The city center with its old architectural buildings gives the feel of an old grand city with many stories to tell.. It is well connected by the tram service and has many shops and restaurants around it.

We stopped in Linz during a river cruise. The square was only about 3 blocks from the port/dock. Lots of shops, cafes, ATM and Tourist Info Center. Lots to see and do. Close to everything.
