The complex of buildings is huge and quite impressive from afar. However, inside, some sources of frustration: the guided visit was in German, many of the things are heavily restored and look too new,... We expected better when driving out to this monastery.

Stift Klosterneuburg is an excellent (and much closer) alternative to Stift Melk. The abbey offers several high quality guided tours in English, with features such as the Verdun Altar and the wine cellars. It's a delightful way to spend a few hours away from the touristy bustle of Vienna.

Staying in Vienna for 4 days only, but well worth the trip. A simple matter of going to the end of the subway (Heiligenstadt), then a 10min train ride and a short walk. Beautiful and worth the visit - the guided sacral tour was fantastic!

Klosterneuburg Monastery is a twelfth-century Augustinian monastery of the Roman Catholic Church located in Lower Austria. The combination of practiced faith, the unique art treasures and the oldest vineyard in Austria gives the monastery its unmistakable charm and makes it an extremely worthwhile excursion destination, situated as it is just outside Vienna. Above all, the famous Verdun altar is worth... More

Great for a visit, both the treasure chamber and the state rooms are good for self visit, cloister and church only with guided tours as well as winery.

Visited on a cold snowy day in December. Ubahn U4 to Heliganstadt end of line then 10 minutes on the S40 train along the Danube. We had time to visit the treasury before doing the Sacred tour. Amazing fabrics & vestments. The English audioguide took a bit of learning, but allowed you just to hear about the items you chose.... More

I had a day free in Vienna and visiting klosterneuberg was a great activity. It was easy to get to by u-bahn and train although my German is very limited. I did all three tours in succession. Make sure you get a audio guide as otherwise you won't learn much (unless the tour is in your language). The tours are... More

We toured in the evening and heard a musical performance that was arranged by our river cruise company. The tour of the building included various room and sections that gave the history going back @ 900 years. The craftsmanship was inspiring for the fact that it was done hundreds of years ago.

Atop a small hill overlooking the Danube presents a magnificent sight as you come upon it. Short bike ride from Vienna. Beautiful cathedral as part of the Abby.

This is quite a ways out but reachable by public transit. We did not use the hop on and off bus as it only ran here occasionally. You may pick from the Abbey Tour (Sacred Tour), the Wine Cellar Tour and/or Hapsburg Tour. The Hapsburg tour shows the Imperial Residence and the Archducal Crown, but is only offered once a... More
