Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To our great regret, we can’t say anything good, because we were met by the hostess of the winery without any greetings, but with the announcement that there too many tourists come to test the wine without any purchase and if we want to test, we must pay 5 euro per person. All the degustation took 5 minutes.... nothing was said about the winery, about the wines.... no comments. The hostess didn’t even change glasses between white and red wine, though when we’ve asked she brought new ones. Do not recommend as a place for a visit unless you want to ruin your day...

Being a lover of Shiraz and reading the great reviews Kolios Shiraz gets I was excited about our visit to the winery. On arrival we were met by a rude woman who gave the impression she didn’t want us there. I asked about the wines and she just pointed at a row of shelves and said “There it is.” She wouldn’t let us taste any wines before buying and despite my best endeavours wouldn’t tell us anything about the wines either. Even when I asked for recommendations which wines she considered the best I got a shrug of the shoulders and a “It’s up to you.”
We picked out two wines, the Kolios Shiraz and a Kolios Maratheftiko. On asking if we can pay with a card we got a short sharp “No, cash only” at which we explained we couldn’t pay only to hear “Ok, you can use a card.” We paid and left, never to return again.
Whoever it was we encountered, she was rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. I would not recommend driving into the mountains to this winery to be treated like we were treated. Go to the Ayia Mavri winery in Koilani instead, friendly warm welcoming owners who give a great experience and allow you to taste the wine before buying.
If it was possible to give a negative score I would, even 1 is too good for the treatment we received.

Great trip out. Very informative and amazing food with a bottle of wine for 25 Euro’s. We first discovered their wine in a local restaurant in Paphos. Tried on recommendation and discovered the tour online after being won over. After a drive up with panoramic views you reach a well presented entrance with a lovely courtyard/garden. You are welcomed into a dining room with panoramic views over Cyprus (3000ft up), after some tasting there is a tour of the winery. we liked all their wines including the Rose despite my partner not normally liking it. Picked up some great tips on serving the wined and thoroughly enjoyed the lunch which if anything was slightly too much. Even picked up a case of wine (12) bottles for a very reasonable price. Brilliant day out

An amazing trip to a lovely location. Marios the owner showed us around and conducted the wine tasting - he was both knowledgeable and passionate in equal measure. Lunch was great. Well worth the short drive up into the mountains from Pathos.

The cheeseboard cheese chunks all tasted the same. Much too little for four people. The four wine portions were not enough to get a true taste of the wine. €13 for this is outrageous! It was so embarassing as our friends from SouthAfrica paid. At Tsangarides we got an excellent and generous tasting of 8 wines for €5. At Kolios it's €8 for four tiny tastings. We won't be going back and will take our friends to Tsangarides.

Really great food with excellent wine tasting and the most amazing view. We booked a taxi and visited the monastery a short distance away as part of our trip. Brought back 2 mixed cases of their lovely wines. Lunch with tour, wine tasting and wine of our choice with our meze lunch was a very good value 25 euros.

Certainly a must for wine lovers. This is a family run vineyard and business which is great fun to visit and not only try the wines but have a great home cooked meal. The view is also fantastic, just a lively day well worth booking.

What a view from the restaurant/ tasting room. They do a set next meal but this has to be pre booked. we just popped in tried some wine, took in the view and left with some purchases. Definitely worth the visit especially if coupling it with the monastery near by.

I have not visited the winery. I was the other side of the island and it would have been a day trip.
I have though tried Status 99 from Kolios Winery. An excellent full-bodied dry red wine.
We were dining at Nicolas Tavern, a tradition Greek-Cypriot taverna in Protaras, the restaurant to eat in Protaras.
We asked for their best medium dry red wine, and was served Status 99 from Kolios Winery. An excellent choice.
It was from reading the label, learned of Kolios Winery.

I see the winery is in the mountains. Is the road easy to drive, or do I need a 4 x 4?
Written 24 June 2019
No you do not need a 4x4 to get to Kolios Winery, if you stay on the main road.
