- Gemma H-JAylesbury, United Kingdom674 contributionsMorning castle visitWe had a fun morning exploring Paphos castle with our 3 sons, 10, 9 and 1 years old. It was €2.50 per person (baby was free). We had a good time having a look around, but from the other castles we have visited, it’s definitely not as impressive as some of the others. Also, you are unable to go right to the very top, as this is padlocked and no access is allowed.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 October 2023
- Kathryn CDunstable, United Kingdom434 contributionsChunky Little FortressA chunky little fortress overlooking the harbour with great views from the roof. Entrance fee is minimal so well worth a visit. Follow it up with an ice cream or a beer from one of the nearby bars.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- Sasha Marie1,977 contributionsFor the love of castlesI personally love anything that mildly resembles a castle or any old ruin really so I enjoyed visiting Paphos castle. The walk to the castle through the harbour was lovely with different decorative boats and even a pelican came on land to eat at a cafe! Would recommend visit here, even if it is just to see some of the culture and history. Great views which is pretty much what you pay for as the inside is brisk.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 June 2024
- Adam LHartley Wintney, United Kingdom145 contributionsPaphos Castle.Due to it's size, its a very quick visit. Staff are friendly, it's entry fee is very cheap and reasonable. Not much to see but nice to say you've visited. History boards in the lobby explain the site in a fair amount of detail. Would reccomend but wouldn't make a purpose visit/travel for a long time. Pop in, if you're in the area!Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 September 2024

Paphos Castle is located at the end of the harbour and now hosts a museum showing art works that have been made from plastics that have been removed from the sea.
The cost to enter was 2.50euro and is good value for money. Great location for taking photos of the sea views & harbour

On their website is written that in august you can visit castle until 7:30pm. We came at 6:55 and rude man who are selling tickets just yelled closed and kicked us out. Around 10 people tried to enter after us and he just kicked them all out.

If this didn't cost only €2.50 then I would feel extremely short changed! It is not a castle but a small fort consisting of two lower chambers and a roof with a view over the sea and harbour. That's it. An attempt has been made to make it worth a visit by adding some crappy 'art' made of litter downstairs, but they needn't have bothered.
Good thing? You have a decent view from the top.
It's a classic case of exaggerated marketing in Cyprus to make things sound attractive to tourists (Coral Bay: no coral, Blue Lagoon: a bay, Tombs of the Kings: no kings, Aphrodite's Baths: a smelly cave with pigeons and poo!)
Better to save your money and visit the archaeological site nearby instead.

There is not a huge amount to see in the fort which is reflected in the €2.50 entry fee but it does offer a very pleasant way of spending half an hour or so. The highlights are the views of Paphos and surrounding areas from the top of the tower which, in fine weather, offer some excellent photographic opportunities. The Tower is well preserved but would benefit from more information panels.

We payed to do the full tour and it was worth it for the views from the top alone.
They had some artwork which added some interest but the history of the castle and role it played over the years was interesting.
The views from the top out to sea and across the harbour were well worth it and gave chance for some amazing photos, we didn't see it at nighttime but would be awesome at sunset i imagine.

The castle is a small building down near the sea. While it is small it’s not without history or interesting architecture. Cost is €2.50 per adult to get in and it doesn’t take long to walk around inside and the roof but it’s well worth a visit.

This castle out on the harbour wall in Paphos looks impressive but inside is an empty shell with nothing to see. The views from the top are nice but not worth the price of admission. Stepping into the castle you can read the history and see the vaulted ceiling of the main hall. Then step outside again and admire the moat.

Nothing special, best part was the lovely views of the harbour from the top. Takes about 10/15 mins to look around if that. There’s some interesting art work made out of litter on the ground floor of the castle which is cleverly-done, however the man who you pay your money to we found to be rather rude and unwelcoming. Just didn’t seem like he wanted the custom.

Had a lovely walk around the harbour, very flat and safe, with lots of bollards to keep the traffic away. There's a vast variety of shops and bars around, all with a smile and welcome. The castle costs €2.50 to walk around, but has some amazing views across The harbour and out to sea.

where is the best place to park at the Paphos harbour?
Written 26 October 2016
There is a car park at the harbour -you can usually find parking there (sometimes it can be full, especially late evenings - in which case you have to just circle the car park until a place becomes available - not too long usually. Or arrive earlier in the evening and then there are usually no problems).
