A lovely boat trip out to the cliffs to see birds, grey seals and other wildlife. The captain adjusts the destination to avoid bad seas, and so we were very comfortable throughout. Meanwhile the commentary about what we were seeing was clear and informative. Skilful boat handling brings us close to the cliffs, and yet they also maintain a respectful distance to avoid scaring the wildlife. A great 90 minute trip, very enjoyable!

For my experience, I took a 1.5 hour boat tour (reserved through the website "Guide to Faroe Islands") which saw my group being taken on an amazing boat tour around the Vestmanna Bird Cliffs where we saw amazing sights and even caught view of the local birds.
Only through tours will you be able to visit such locations, as these cliffs require a boat to be hired. The guide and captain will also point out key interesting features and keep a watch out for birds you can take photos of.
Do note, the weather can change on short notice, so be prepared with a windbreaker and medium thickness jacket at least.

We really enjoyed this tour! It was fantastic to see the impressive Vestmanna Cliffs and all the birds colony. This whole experience was even better because of the guide that was telling us about the things we see like salmon farms, abandoned village and lost of other stories. The weather wasn’t great and ocean was very choppy but it added the thrill to the whole adventure. Well done to the ship crew that manoeuvred the ship in between those rocky cliff and gave us a bit of adrenaline :D it was a real adventure! We could see the top of the cliffs but it was still amazing :)

Possibly a good experience. However we were unlucky that it was very windy with big waves in the Atlantic, so they had to take a re-route. It was ok but not what we hoped for. During the trip I was a bit annoyed that they didn't say that before the boat trip. Coming back, I found out that they did send a mail the day before - however it did end up in a spam mail box :-(

The two hour cruise to the Vestmanna bird cliffs was enjoyable, despite the poor weather. Fog obscured the tops of the 600m/1960 ft cliffs and it was chilly (11 C/52 F), but at least it was not raining. I was prepared with a warm jacket and hood. You travel along the coast and see many birds both flying and nesting.

Lovely boat tour to see the imposing and dramatic vestemanna seacliffs, seals and seabird life. The tour can be booked in advance online at the vestemanna tourist centre website. It can get very windy (as it did for us) so make sure to bring warm / wind-resistant clothing.

Great boat trip to see the awesome cliffs near Vestmanna. Weather was bit dull but luckily it brighetened up during the boat ride.
Scenery was lovely and the cliffs and rock pillars were impressive. The boat captain told some interesting things about the surroundings.
We saw flying puffins and northern fulmars.

We went for the cruise to the Vestamanna cliffs on the 21st of July: glorious sunshine, quiet sea, very few wind. We were very excited at the start, but in fact we didn't go to the cliffs as expected, but in the other direction, to Trollskonnufingur on Vagar (nice trip too, but not the one we had booked, and without any explanation -the weather cannot be an explanation for this very nice day-). So, we were back to the harbour with a mixed impression, and a question: WHY ?

A nice tour, in our case towards the south of Vagar Island. Good information, we were lucky the boat was not too full and the wheather did not hinder the trip.
Advise to the guide, also point out specialties like gannets!

One can only view this by joining a boat tour from the Vestmann Tourist Info office with a pre-booked tour. We joined a combined tour by a private company that took us to see the cliffs and Mykenes island. The cliffs soared high and the boat took is thru tight rock formations. Spectacular views of birds and their nesting areas.

How can you book this trip; when does it leave and return; cost?

The trip will last about 2 hours.
The tours run out from Vestmanna Tourist Centre, where you also can pay for your tickets. For adults DKK 295,- For childen(6-13 years) DKK 160,-
Children under the age of 6 are free of charge.
I do not remeber the sceduled departments but there wher two or thre pr day in the beginning of June 2018. We di not pre book.
