Worth doing with plenty of information on the Knights
This is a experience with a 3D film first then an audio tour around 24 sets depicting various parts of the history of the Knights of Malta thro the ages in a bit more detail. It is rather dark around the tour and some of the dioramas maybe be a bit gory. But the family who were on the tour with us with their children seemed to have no ill effect on them and they seemed to really enjoy it. Their little girl said she had loved it. Entry is 6.5 euro and you can get a discount if you visit here and the Mdina experience. We used our Malta discount card and if you check the participating venues you can judge for yourselves, The card can do a family of 4 on just one card, we found it very good value for our trip. Time slots are i think every 30 minutes. Well worth a visit if you have the time in Mdina, but the Cathedral and museum would be first igf you are short of time.
Thank you for your 4 star review.

Fun way to learn about the history of the Knights....well most of it anyway
This is really well worth a visit. The 3D start is superb and then you go round about 20 different set pieces. The first group of these are really great and maybe it was just us but after the great siege it does get a bit boring. But still enjoyed the overall experience..well 90% of it anyway..
Thank you for your 4 star review and positive feedback.

    Poor by any standard
We were told we would have to wait about 10mins, as we were the only ones there we thought ok. When we were moved into the cinema to watch the video show, people kept coming in so the wait for it to start to drag. The film was supposed to be 3D but i found it had to watch as it was at times not in focus. When we had finished we were put into groups of four or five and told to wait for the light and listen to the story. Sadly some of the scenes containing the dummies were not working. All in all, we have seen it done better. A bit of thought from the owners and this could be improved a great deal, for customer enjoyment.

Quite interesting but runs on a bit too long
Worth a visit if you’re interested in the history. Starts with a short video, quite good for a beginner You then walk through a maze-like tunnel with life size scenes depicting various events over the years. Each scene lights up as you approach so you are restricted from moving at your own pace. My only negative is the pace set is very slow and it becomes frustrating and a bit boring

Really interested in the content of this film/museum, but too many little things happened to make this less than enjoyable. Film content was Ok or maybe a little better than OK.
We got our headset and device and 3D glasses. Instructions not to touch any of the buttons, just hang the device around your neck.
Film viewing was OK, if you can tolerate the staff walking in/out of the theater multiple times, leaving the door open (thus letting light into the darkened theater), or walking through the theater between viewers and screen with bright flashlights.
Walking through the displays was even less successful. First they take your 3D glasses from you. Then audio from the headsets describe exhibits and then instruct you to move to the next exhibit display. Sometimes it's not clear which is the next exhibit. And audio problems don't help. Sometimes you think you should be at an exhibit, but you have no audio. Staff came through because the group of five of us were obviously having issues. We missed audio on probably a third of the exhibits. One man had his device replaced. And the instructions became 'you should hold your device up like this'
Not worth the money spent. Do not recommend.

Not worth the 35 mins it takes or the E6.50 entry. A short 3D film (cardboard 3D glasses provided) followed by a walkthrough series of tableaux scenes with audio description. All very amateurish, audio description didn't work half the time, very light on any real historical detail and not 'fun' for kids either.

However, the square that one of the Knights of Malta venues is in, Pjazza Mesquite is a gorgeous hidden oasis - have a couple of beers and a Maltese Sharing Platter for 2 (E16) from Don Mesquite restaurant instead of going to see Knights of Malta.

Myself and my partner visited this in September 2023, and it was €6.50 each admiasion. We watched a 3d video, and then went to the individual displays where the audio guide informed us of the history of the Malta Knights and the story behind the Maltese history. It was both informative and entertaining, with an array of different language translations. It would be a good activity for the young and old and would recommend this excursion.

We visited Mdina, also called the silent city and what an amazing place, its definitely one of my top 10 places to visit. So much history, beautiful buildings, good quaint restaurants and ice cream and to top it off we did The Knights of Malta and The Mdina Experience. They only cost 11.5 euros for both, and we got a discount on top of this, having had cake and coffee at the Fontanella restaurant in Mdina. The Knights of Malta takes you through the history of Mdina with a 3d film and audio tour through the tunnels, really good. Then the Mdina Experience is approx a half hour or so film in a cinema theatre where you choose your language and use headphones to watch the film. Both were really good, enjoyable, well worth the money, and the staff were very nice.

The two guys running it didn't seem to know what they were doing. They were speaking in their own language (not English, not Maltese) discussing what to do with us before saying "do the tour first".

Turns out we were supposed to watch a video first to give us an overview of everything and give more context to the story. But apparently they didn't think to ask us "do you mind waiting 5 minutes for the next showing of the video". Instead we started the tour 4 or 5 stops in with the guy errily standing over us and then pointing us in each direction. Was distracting.

He eventually left us and we went through the next 20 scenes ok. Audio guide mostly worked. But he didn't tell is they were infra red and so had to be hand held the entire time. So when I put it in my pocket and moved between scenes it stoped working completely. Eventually figured out how to use it myself. But missed a few scenes of audio.

Also, let's say 20% of the tour / scenes aren't finished yet. With workmen actively still working on it whilst guests are touring round. Which wasn't great, but I guess not the end of the world.

We got back to the start and finally had a chance to watch the video... Which again had already started. They said "go in we will restart it". They didn't restart it. And then at the end asked if we wanted to watch the whole thing again. I'd had enough by then.

Better trained guides! Literally all the problems caused by those guys.

If they trained them better or got in better staff then I would have given it a 4/5. As it was, almost complete waste of time / money.

... No refund was offered despite me saying it was out of order how they showed us through it.

Would recommend going in a year, once they have finished it and have better trained staff.

My daughter convinced us to get in and I thought maybe it was a good idea BUT the receptionist said it would take just a couple of minutes to start and we lost almost 40 minutes of our precious time in Medina to wait until this supposed to be 3D movie about the knights to start. We complained and asked for our money back so they finally got it on. It was disrespectful make us wait and lie to us about the real time of the session because they wanted to sell the ticket to more people. The film was Disappointing. Afterwards, you go to a museum of wax of scary unconvincing dolls, and a tiring audio guide. In total we lost 1 hour of our time. You are warned: don’t lose your precious time/money.

Deep in the fabulous old city’s bastion stone walls of Mdina you will find Casa Magazzini. Here you can see a short 3D film followed by a very realistic and fascinating walk through experiences viewing life like scenes on the history of the Knights of Malta. You are issued with a headset in the choice of many languages.
When we visited, a number of the tableaux were being refurbished and upgraded in preparation for the oncoming Summer season.
If you want to know more about Malta’s history this is a definite must see.

First of all I'd like to say that we were told that the waiting time was about two minutes, but eventually we needed to wait 20 minutes. After our waiting experience we got into the
'theater' where we watched a '3D' movie of 20 minutes about the history of the knights of Malta. The quality of the movie was awful to say the least. The movie was very blurry and the sounds weren't that great. Also I am someone that's very interested in history, but this actually bored me and I didn't really catch a lot of interesting parts of Maltese history.
After the movie we were sent in groups into the museum part of this experience. The groups that were made were too big to see the different displays of waxed figures in a comfortable way. We really needed to squeeze up to get a good look at them. Another thing is that there were two displays that didn't work and one that was under construction, which we weren't mad about because that meant that the end was closer. It was very boring, we almost didn't catch anything interesting (at least in an interesting way) from this museum. Waste of money (even though it's not expensive). Enjoy the beautiful city of Mdina instead.
