The Carmelite friars resident at the historical Priory in Mdina invite you to experience both the spiritual and the daily way of life in this spectacular 17th century priory. The Carmelite Priory offers the unique opportunity of visiting various rooms that include a decorative refectory, an authentic kitchen, a typical friars cell, as well as a sober oratory, amongst others to get a taste of the spiritual, artistic, historical and cultural heritage of Carmelites. The impressive church also forms part of the same visit. The visit is always guided by a resident friar or by a "Friend of the Priory" The Carmelite Priory is the first priory in Malta to be open to visitors in an attempt to share with contemporary people the Carmelite heritage handed down to us from one generation to the other. Carmelite friars living here share their lifestyle with visitors who wish to pay a visit in the historical spaces, or to spend days of recollection, organise spiritual and cultural events, or participate in the courses organised by the Carmelite Institute Malta at the Priory in conjunction with the Faculty of Theology at University of Malta and the Pastoral Formation Institute.

Glorious opulence! Spare time to sit and take in the beautiful artwork as well as say a prayer of two. Took the opportunity to light a candle in remembrance too! Xx

Reviewers should get facts right to help others. Church is open to all, Priory is by email appointment only and is STUNNINGLY SUPERB - I know because I was the only one on a highly fascinating tour of Priory today. For one delightful hour I...More

It was open so we went in for 5 minutes. Beautiful decorations. Peaceful atmosphere. There were tourists, but not overwhelmingly so.

The sacred space is spoilt by visitors chatting. This is my most favourite places in Mdina and it is lovely.

A place to sit and contemplate, meditate and remember those we carry within our hearts, and those we share our lives with. Great place to take time to reflect and cool down on a hot day.

It looked very nice but we were unable to gain entrance as it was closed. Very disappointed. Next time we visit Malta we will have to put it on our agenda again.

We considered ourselves fortunate to be allowed in. This is a silent refuge. Beautiful and tranquil.

If is open go after the Cathedral. You can feel the peace in a touristic spot and not crowded. There some nice pieces of art

While walking around Mdina, I stumbled upon the Carmelite Priory. It was small, but incredibly beautiful and very peaceful. Do not just walk past it!

Located in the central part of the old city of Mdina, this is a lovely priory. The entire place is tranquil and the religious artifacts within are quite beautiful, too. Recommended.
