Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thursday 17th June we were driving around the São Lourenço Peninsula through the wild and rugged landscape
We stopped at this Mirador which is located in the northern part of the Peninsula.
We parked up in the small car park area and went walking about. There is a viewing area, with hand rails, to stand and admire the views. For those more intrepid visitors there were pathways, with no rails, further along the headland. The reward for their bravery was even more fantastic views.
We could see the outline of Porto Santo in the distance
This was definitely not for the faint hearted especially on a wild, wet and windy day like today. Would definitely recommend bringing a jacket with you, just in case. Having said that there were people walking around in vests and shorts.

Unique scenery in a landscape more like Scotland than the rest of this ‚tropical’ island. Walk to the end of the peninsula is easy to do, great views down the steep cliffs. Can be windy! Restaurant at end of the walk closed due to the pandemic. Remember to bring a swimsuit, there is a fine spot (small quay) down from the restaurant.

Despite poor weather, this was a beautiful spot. The scenery looking along the peninsular with its jagged cliffs and the waves breaking on the rocks below is spectacular. The views back towards the island along both the East and North coasts are also impressive. We had a 20 minute stop here but I would love to come and do a walk along the peninsula - no trees to hide the view!

Takes a bit of a walk to get there, and it can get windy, but the views are amazing. One can feel the enormous forces at play that shaped the coast line and the whole island. The path is very well prepared and safe, simple normal shoes will do.

If you’d like to see the stunning panorama of crystal clear waters, waves hitting the rocks of Madeira, don’t hesitate to come - it’s accessible by car, doesn’t require a lot of hiking (although you could find yourself a track nearby), and is just fantastically beautiful.

Amazing landscape, different from anywhere else on Madeira. The cliffs are so high, the colours of the rocks so bright and the waves crashing far below so amazing. Great if you need some real fresh air or a new subject for photography

Fantastic hike with amazing views. If walking briskly can do out and back in under 2.5 hours. A must do!

We were lucky to be on a clear day - persistent splashing waves against the violent volcanic landscape was a breath-taking

We were supposed to just pass by Caniçal and see the view, but noticed it was possible to go further in this peninsule and arriving the farthest possible with our car saw that people were leaving for a trekking.
So there we went and was quite a surprise.
Grandiose awesome scenery. Highly recommended
