I visited this church on the afternoon of 1 July 2017. It was occupied with what sounded like a choral practice so I just walked around outside. An interesting visit for 1/2 hour. LuxuryTravelCamel and I enjoyed our visit.

Repairs were in progress but we managed a walk around. Interesting bell tower and interior worth a look. Best part though are the views of the town, Stykkisholmur, the surrounding islands and the sea from the church´s vantage point.

As pretty much all churches in Iceland, this one is really cool to look from outside. The inside has nothing special

Beautiful building and depiction of Madonna and Child. The church can be seen from all over town and while on boat tour.

Small town of about 1,000. Classic Iceland. You can catch a ferry here to take you up to the Western Fjords. Plenty of cute restaurants and some decent hotels. Be sure to go to the church. Beautiful view of the area

This is a lovely church that feels warm and inviting. Beautiful views. Interesting pipe organ. I bet the hanging lights are other-worldly on a dark winter day.

Very cool architecture on this church. It was recommended to visit (for the architecture) in our guidebook and we were already in Stykkisholmur for a tour so we were happy to see it. I wouldn't drive out of the way for it, though. Our guidebook...More
