You'll be forgiven if people believe you're photos are black and white... Trust me they aren't. This is a breathtaking beach that you need at least 45 mins on (trust me it's worth it!!). Free parking, free to visit and opposite the glacial lagoon Enjoy an absolute must see

Quick jaunt to the beach as it was raining! Nice caves and good views but started raining quiet hard. Sand very cool. Didn't seen any puffins. Picked up some Chinese tourists trying to hitch hike from Vik....its way to far to walk! Not sure how they got home as we were going back to Reykjavik. There is a cafe onsite... More

This is the most mysterious beach I've ever been to and where I got engaged to my fiance. The waves crashing will give you an overwhelming sense of awe. We went in February of 2016 and will be returning in September of 2017.

I arrived into Iceland around 6 in the morning and couldn't get into my hotel until 4 that afternoon, so my friends and I decided to rent a car and go for a drive, ultimately ending up here with a few stops along the way. A little hard to find but thankful we had a Navigation System in the car.... More

We went to Vik to see the famous arch, but it was so misty it was obscured from view. We were disappointed, but we decided to go to the black sand beach. It was very pretty, the misty atmosphere was almost a plus in this case.

Never before have i seen such an amazing and mysterious beach. The guide pressed the ocean's danger upon us. The waves created by the ocean upon this beach have been deadly many times... Beautiful and harsh nature. Black and white combined. The lava-walls make it extraordinary also....

Very cool. Bring rain gear or poncho. It started raining when we arrived. Cold rain! There is a small restaurant for eating something quick and there is a restroom. We did not stay very long. It’s a great stop for those in a ring road road trip.

It is a black sand beach, interesting place to take pics. It is located in Vik. I went in winter season and it is very cold, it is worth it. There are restaurants, and grocery stores. You also can visit the small town of Vik and you can visit the church that is located at the top of the town,... More

Interesting Black Sand beach and some funky rock formations which reminded me of the Organ Pipes rocks near Dunedin (New Zealand) and the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. A small cave is located by the rock formation too and a cafe is at the free car park (didn't go in). Worth a visit (only 5 mins drive from the main... More

The black sand beach was stark and beautiful. Insane winds almost blew us away. There is a little restaurant nearby to grab lunch.
