Small but unique

Snowboarding in Iceland has long been a dream of mine and it definitely is a special experience. I rented equipment directly at Blafjoll and had my board on in less than 15min after arriving. The area has one main lift and also not a lot of slopes but going down a volcano with full view of the sea doesn’t get old fast. The atmosphere on the slope is very relaxed, everybody is driving respectfully and in general you feel like you are part of a big Icelandic skiing family.

Cool fun!
Feb. 2019 • Couples
We loved Blafjoll as a first snowboarding adventure. The sights of skiers weaving down from the misty peaks was beautiful. The passes and equipment hire were good value and everyone seemed to be having great fun - us included. I would advise complete beginners to start on the junior slopes that have no turnstiles and are located beside the offices until you feel confident you can take on a more advanced slope. We purchased passes for the slopes with turnstiles however decided they were not for us on the day. But we had to pay the full admission as we had passed through one turnstile while checking out the lifts and slope at the beginning. Having said that we still found it good value for money and great fun for our first snowboarding exploit! The drive up is spectacular in the snow but drivers should take extra care in snowy weather with oncoming traffic as road is narrow enough and quite curvy in places. All in all a fantastic experience!

Casual ski

I visited here with my wife so that she could ski. She spent a couple of hours on the green and blue runs and enjoyed herself. Prices for the lift pass and equipment hire are reasonable too.

I spent my time in the cafe which was simple but we'll priced (and warm!)

Turned Around a Near Disaster
Apr. 2018 • Family
Some weeks before coming to Iceland, I booked my young son onto the 4 hour Ski School on Sunday run by Johann at this resort. This morning we drove from Vik to the resort (getting a speed camera flash en route!) to be sure were there at the agreed time, but alas, Johann was on leave and had forgotten to call or email me to cancel. My son was nearly in tears at this news.

I knew my son was going to be devastated as he'd been looking forward to this for months, but the resort kindly arranged one-to-one instruction for him, plus a day pass and all his gear for free to make up for this oversight. So in the end, he did in fact have an amazing day, at least as good as he'd have experienced if Ski School had been on.

So a big thank you to Bláfjöll, and especially my son's instructor, for providing a top notch customer service experience.

All businesses make errors, it's how they are recovered from that sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Great for kids!
Mar. 2018 • Family
My family and I visited Reykjavik over Easter break (2018) and wanted to go skiing. This ski area is about 35 minutes outside of the city but we had rented a car so it was an easy trip for us to make. The ski rental was kind of crazy and we were disappointed that they only did one day rentals. We would have come back to ski a second day if they had more than one day rentals but didn't want to go through the rental process again. The slopes were great for kids and they had a small winter play area for younger kids. Overall is was a great experience and we'd go back if we were ever in the area again.I would have given it 5 stars had the rental process been a little easier and they rented out the equipment for more than just one day.

Great place & most of all, extremely helpful staff
Mar. 2018 • Friends
Visited the place with partner & friends in March 2018. The trainer (Johan, I think) was very patient and helped us learn the ropes. As a first time skier, I took a couple of knocks but learnt gradually. Then tried skiing for a while after the lessons got over, was allowed to go on with almost no time limit. Also had some really nice hot chocolate at their café.

At the end of the trip though, our car battery died & there was no way we could leave - esp with temperature close to -8°C. We reached out to their staff for help. From the staff, Gunnar took the effort to get out in that freezing weather jumpstart the batteries for us, helping us leave before we turned to frozen icicles! All in all, had an extremely good experience thanks esp. to their very helpful staff.

good fun
Feb. 2018 • Family
We were there with Florida kids who were perfectly happy to only hit the bunny hill. They had a fabulous time.

This is how it worked. On the front side of the building there is a window for tickets. First you need to buy the card that the lifts will read. This is about $10, when you return it, I believe you get half of that back. By the time we were done the line was too long, so we just kept the cards. The tickets are actually pretty reasonably priced, particularly for kids.

Then you go around the left and down into the rental area. Here you answer a bunch of questions at self serve kiosks, then get in line with the print-out from the kiosk. The rental is more expensive than the lift tickets... When we went (Friday 3PM) all this was done reasonably fast.

Close to Reykjavik, Reasonable$, Fun
Feb. 2018 • Friends
A quick day trip for a stopover in Reykjavik in the winter! The snow was fantastic, the runs wide and fun. Prices for lift ticket and rentals are very reasonable. Lots of local families were enjoying the sunny day in April. A stopover with a ski day followed by a Blue Lagoon day is a perfect end to the vaca!

Fantastic scenery
Feb. 2017 • Couples
As a novice skier I found Blafjoll an amazing experience. They have a variety of runs. We arrived at 2pm to find out they don't open until 3pm even though all their advertising says 2pm. The staff aren't overly friendly or helpful but the ski resort itself is definitely worth a visit. We saw the sunset while skiing down the volcanic mountain and it's one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.
Only 4 runs where open before 6pm! So probably better arriving late. Worth a visit here even if you don't ski!

Sunset Ski was a great experience
Jan. 2016 • Couples
We went for sunset and skied into the night. Wow! Breathtaking is the only word I can use to describe.

Skiing for all abilities with a choice of different runs. Ski hire available if needed and you pay by the time you wish to ski with the ski pass.

Even if you are not a very keen skier, worth going here for the views.

Need to watch the weather reviews and snow fall reviews as this can determine the resort being open or not. They may only open certain runs.
