I dropped by here for a quick visit. I was at the visitors center plotting my day. My next stop was the Museum of Iceland. I could walk over there via Tjarnargata by the lake or by Sudurgata. I decided on the latter and just...More

This cemetery had beautiful old headstones and was very peaceful to walk around. It's just a short walk from downtown Reykjavik and right around the corner from the Tourist Information Office.

It is the largest 19th century cemetery in Island and a lot of old gravestone which are art dating back to 1838. Many do see this place as a green spot of peace and it is inded green and do have 200 species of plants....More

We stumbled across this cemetary by accident because there was free parking nearby and wandered through. Really beautiful cemetery which is very well maintained. Some of the graves were newer or well taken care of and some were very old which made it so much...More

This is a place for reflection. You can imagine past lives, personal histories, see how it was and how it is today. Very tranquil place to do some thinking.

This is a really neat cemetery to visit. Interesting to see all the trees growing among the graves. We were there in the winter so there were no leaves on the trees and it added to the eeriness.

We were walking past, didn't go in, but were so fascinated with just that view that I am writing this review. It was December and cold, but we all spent time looking from the sidewalk at the tombstones and the dates and the style of...More

The Cemetery is probably best visited as part of a tour otherwise you will miss the stories of the people buried here. The bakery across the street probably makes the best donut I have ever eaten. Visit Bjornsbakari for a coffee after. 700 kr for...More

It’s beautiful during the day but at night this place becomes the gateway to hell. Chased out by a floating torso of a man with a beard.

Despite being quite close to a road, this was such a peaceful place to wander around in snowy weather. It's clearly tended lovingly, and gave us a nice few minutes of respite in a day of largely visiting museums.
