Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the “new parliament building” built in 1881 - the original meeting place dates back to 930CE and is located at the Thingvellir National Park. There are no tours offered as this is a working government building.

The Icelandic Parliament is the world's oldest one dating back to year 930. However, it wasn't here these days, but in Althing which is in the Golden Circle, some 45 min drive out of the capital.
This newer Parliament was built in 1881 on the main downtown square, next door to the main Lutheran Cathedral Domkirkjan.
Looking its exteriors you might think it's rather a wealthy family mansion than a state Parliament. We didn't find a way to enter it and it seems no tours are available.

We passed this many times on our trip as it was right by our hotel. It is a lovely building although smaller than you would expect for a Government building. The gardens and area around the house are lovely.

Attractive grey stone building on Austurvollur Square is Iceland's Parliament Building. Dates to 1881 and was much smaller than I expected. There is a modern annex to the right for governmental offices. Not sure if they offer tours of the interior.

A side gate was open and we wandered into a beautiful garden full of red tulips planted in a circle. It felt like trespassing, but I'm glad we saw it.

Nice building with beautiful surroundings Stunning contrast to enormous armed presence about the US Capitol. Note lovely flower garden in back of the building, and broad grass park in front. Saw literally no one guarding this.

The Parliament House is located in the center part of Reykjavik, Iceland, with a beautiful garden on the property. It is very easy to get to, and is within walking distance of the Centrum Hotel, where I was staying at. It seemed to be closed at the time, however, it makes for really nice pictures taken there.

The Parliament building is currently under construction. You can walk around the perimeter and read the information signs. When the construction is completed, I hope people will be able to tour the building.

In a nice area of the city. There is a board just outside with some history and explaining the building works which are currently ongoing. It’s a nice building but nothing spectacular. There is a pretty park and the cathedral just next door.

In one word... underwhelming.

It might be nice to go if they're holding tours, but if you're just going for the architecture, no need to stop by.
