Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful park- people are working on it still as of May 2022 but there are beautiful yellow flowers everywhere. 100% worth a walk through. There is art throughout the park- mainly statues of women. Beautiful with lots of walking and biking trails!

A good place to visit with young children. Not too far off main bus route though could be better signposted from bus stops. Only small, probably more to do there in the sprinv/summer but we enjoyed our visit.

We visited Feb 14th 2023 . As it was in winter time, the botanical gardens were not in flower but I am certain it would have been really beautiful had we visited in the summer time.
We visited the farm there and met one of the farm cats, Luna, who loved a fuss and followed us round for quite a while. The farm itself consisted of a seal, cows and pigs, Icelandic horses, ducks etc. The restaurant was closed unfortunately which kind of put a downer on our visit as we had planned to spend a good few hours there but as there was no food, we had to leave sooner . There were also several rides which I think may have been seasonal as they were not in operation. We visited the skating rink which my son enjoyed , however the skates had seen better days and some of the clips didnt fasten so his feet hurt .

Laugardalur is a wonderful park in the center of Reykjavík. It has lots of colourful flowers and plants and trees. Lots of ducks stay in the small lake. There are also remains of old Reykjavík there, where the women took the dirty laundry to clean them - which is where Laugardalur got its name from, Laugar comes from Þvottalaugar which means laundromat.

This is an enjoyable area to spend some time when you need a break. There is a parking lot with free parking, and the gardens are very nice and peaceful. They are next to the "zoo" and to a small amusement park. Great place for kids to run around!

Every time I go to Iceland for vacation (6 times and counting), this park, specifically its outdoor olympic size swimming pool, becomes one of my main reasons to return. The ootdoor pool is huge and accessable (indoor one is frequently used for training). Dipping, hanging and/or lying around the smaller pools or the hot pods around the pool is an ethearal experience..Nothing can beat the feeling of relaxation, calming and resting in the warm/hot waters, while it is cold, rainy or snowing around you..One MUST try the outdoor pool experience in Iceland..One of the many many many original things this country has to offer...

At first we were unsure as to procedures and what to expect from the advertised 'Heated Pools' information that we had seen and read. However, once we entered the 50 meter pool the anxiousness went away. We were, however, overcome by what else was on offer. A Multitude of 'Hot Pools' Ranging from a huge play pool with an attached chute and play area to a series of temperature controlled 'tubs' set at 38, 42 and 44 degrees Celsius. The farthest hot tub is the only one with sea water heated to 38 C.
If you visit Iceland then this is a MUST DO activity. The procedure of showering naked last a mere few seconds before complete relaxation can be enjoyed as you bathe in the tubs.
Entrance is just over £3. You can hire a towel and costumes for an extra charge. Do it once. It is worth it!

After a long day of site seeing, this is a great place to come for a soak and take up some Icelandic culture. Bathe in a hot pot or swim in the larger pools, it is sure to relax your aching bones. Just beware: you must shower before swimming... in public! If you're shy about nudity, you may want to skip it and make sure your hotel has an indoor swimming pool. Unfortunately, the water slide is no longer up. When you're finished with your dip, grab a delicious hot dog at the stand outside. A bus stop is conveniently located right across the street.

Absolute must visit. My friend wasn't so keen on this idea, initially. Having seen articles many, many years ago in the national geographic, this was one of the main reasons I have always wanted to visit Iceland. I was not disappointed. I only wish I had the time to be able to return again. This really made my holiday.
Arriving by taxi, initially we went in to the wrong place as there are many complexes in the same area. While World Class spa offers a fantastic option of Spa, fitness, and other services, it only has access to the thermal pools via a couple of stairways. Their charge is based on the full width of facilities at 4900 Kr each. This does include a towel and robe but all we wanted was the pool experience so back out and round to the correct entrance.
550 Kr with a further 450 Kr for towel hire if you don't have one. Big difference.
This was an eye opening experience in many ways. Wrist band access for lockers and pool area. Large open locker and shower rooms with very specific wash instructions. Don't be shy. The rules are there to protect everyone so you will be under the watchful eye of an attendant! No footwear in locker room or outside.
Having showered and dressed in your swimwear you take a walkway out to the poolside.
It is freezing, minus 4 degrees, ice and snow lying, toes curling as you gingerly make your way out, wondering what possessed you to come? You can feel the nobbles of ice on the metal hand rails as you take your first step in to the pool.
WOW! Hot bath! Steam rising, the far edges of the pool disappearing into a mist, fogging up in the predawn. Yes, it is only after 8am and the sun is not due to rise till around 11 am. Temperature and time displays showed that although -4 degrees we were enjoying +31-34 degrees.
There are several options. A children's pool with slides, which I suspect may be better suited to warmer weather, a large fun pool, paddling pool, hot tub, a large lap pool with spectator stand. The piece de resistance; the salt water hot tub, so warm. We particularly liked this. It provided a wonderful place to converse with locals who were only too happy that we were interested in their island life, culture and history.
Free hairdryers ensure you leave without wet hair. A drink and a wee bite afterwards.
This visit truly made our holiday. I hope I will have the opportunity to revisit in the near future.

The botanical gardens (free entry) are well worth a stroll round, although not extensive.
There is a lovely cafe in the middle which is (for Reykjavik) inexpensive. Hint - go for a standard coffee, where you can top it up again for free (as is the case in several cafe/bars). Nice soup there too.
The swimming facilities are at the other end of the overall park (near the stadium with floodlights) (and look at the now-unused hot-water washrooms on the way from the gardens to the pools). Note the pool isn't where it's marked on one of the free tourist maps, it's in the north-central part of the park.
The pool(s) cost about 900K (£6.50 currently) and include a warm 100m pool, several hot tubs (38-44 degrees C) a hot sea-water tub and a cold plunge pool (not tested by yours truely). There's also a children's pool with water slide, and an indoor warm pool. Changing is an experience, but it's the same at all the pools in Iceland we used.
It's to the East of the town centre - 30 mins walk or more, or #14 bus Laugar stop.

Is the hot dog stand outside the Aquatic Center a branch of the one downtown? It looked similar, and the hot dogs were delicious.

I think it's the same. Although I never see a difference but they should taste somewhat the same:)
