This was such a great experience! We had a hiccup at the beginning of our tour (our fault), but we called the company and they were INCREDIBLY accommodating and we didn't end up missing out on anything. They went above and beyond to make sure...More
Even if it is overpriced just go, you do not have another place to experience such a trip.

I can't imagine the tickets are ever on sale. I understand it is so expensive due to it being taken down and set up each time during the warmer months. It is so costly as the elevator that goes down and the bridge to get to the elevator are all so heavy, that to remove them requires expensive equipment. Look at it this way, I think it is a once in a lifetime experience that you probably will not ever do again. Perhaps scrimp on other activities, so that this can be the the special one.
Flash could be used but I wouldn't recommend it as it will create a lot of shadows. I brought a tripod instead which worked fairly well (so you can do longer exposures) - this can also be done with a person but of course the... More
Flash could be used but I wouldn't recommend it as it will create a lot of shadows. I brought a tripod instead which worked fairly well (so you can do longer exposures) - this can also be done with a person but of course the person you photograph has to hold quite still otherwise they will look a bit out of focus.
Remember you will have headlamps on inside the volcano so you can do some shots where someone iluminates part of the wall with their headlamps - it can look quite nice and give a sense of scale.
Enjoy your trip!
