The day before we arrived in Reykjavik, after 8 days of hiking and driving, I googled "Things to do in Reykjavik" and discovered the library had a film on Iceland and a walking tour of crime scenes in fact and fiction that were free and open to the public on Thursdays. What a great activity. The library is spacious and... More

Had to go in here to check in online and print boarding passes. The staff were fantastic!!! So helpful and considerate. They seem to have many walks and talks for tourists and locals alike. I'd recommend calling in for a browse.

As a HUGE book nerd, I love libraries, but rarely visit them on vacation, unless they are of note (e.g.; Seattle). I wandered in here by accident, as it also happens to house the Reykjavik Museum of Photography, which I was looking for. The 'museum' is simply the 6th story of the building and had an excellent exhibit on the... More

I needed a computer and easily found the City Library, located just off the end of Laugavegur, the main street. Everyone spoke English which was a help to me, and for a modest charge, I could use a computer and printer.

We stumbled into this library on a curious last day in Iceland after 2200 miles and 16 nights around Iceland. It is free, quiet, and the giant 19 meter diameter map of Iceland in 3-D relief was a great review of our trip. Plys, good bathroom facilities in downtown Reykjavik can be tough to find. We didn't stay around long... More

The weather is very changeable in Iceland in March and the city library offered some respite from the biting wind and rain. Plus we needed some documents photocopied. Staff were helpful.

Very modern and colorful library. Relaxing environment to scan the shelves. Right in the heart of the city. My husband went to see the photography exhibit. Prominent from the waterfront.

This library had reading nooks where you can dive into the sagas or modern literature. A good selection of books in foreign languages. Helpful staff, a fun store, great view over the harbor from some of the reading rooms.

As a librarian, i appreciate nice libraries, and this one is just that. It also has a nice little shop with lots of things that might make interesting gifts, oh, and it seems to be the place to go if you need to answer a call of nature in the city centre, at least this was where we were advised... My daughter and I stopped in here to warm up a bit and look for English language books about Reykjavik and Iceland . We ended up spending well over an hour reading and relaxing. It's always fun to see libraries in other places (and bookstores here don't seem to have chairs to relax and read in!)
