About
The Icelandic Punk museum is situated in one of Reykjavik most prolific spots. At Bankastraeti Zero, the old public toilets in the bottom of the main street. Seeing is believing and we will see you here!

A small museum (based in a disused WC at Bankastraeti 2), an informative and interactive insight into the roots of Icelandic PUNK. The curator was very knowledgeable and i could have sat there all day discussing all genres that lead the way to Punk!

Don't look at the negative reviews tis is a honest real experience!!

This museum is tiny (situated in an old underground public toilet), but informative and fun. It has been obviously lovingly curated, and there is a lot to look at for such a small place. A real plus, the possibility to listen to some of the music it talks about from headphones hanging from the ceiling.
Great for music lovers, and photogenic too! The host was kind, and the entrance price of 1000 kr is fair considered how expensive Reykjavík is.

If you’re looking for something a little different, take a quick trip underground into an abandoned WC that now houses the history of Icelandic Punk. Great music & great exhibits, very informative if you take the time to read the timeline in English and Icelandic on the walls. Staffed by an appropriately cynical Icelandic teenager :-)

Ok so it’s not Disneyland. And you are not going to spend a whole day there. But it’s still well worth a visit.
A history of punk in Iceland. People of a certain age will know and recognise some acts and memorabilia. But let’s face it the star exhibit is the host. A real character. Great stories and full value.

Oh. And it’s in a toilet.

Loved the quirky nature of the museum and the guy running it was really friendly. It was interested to read about the Sugarcubes early days and the development of punk in Iceland. Definitely worth a visit if you like alternative music.

Great place to pop into - it was pouring with rain and this was a dry escape which turned out to be fun. I liked the sign saying "this is not a toilet" - which a real punk would take as an invitation to use as a toilet!

An overrated place to visit. A public-toilet-turned-museum, the owner put together some collectible items such as old records, different stamps and many currency notes from around the world. If you have a 30-minute Persia’s you want to kill, then fine, this is a place to go to. On a hind sight, I admire the owner for being creative and being able to attract tourist like us to visit. Good job…

This was something we planned to include on our trip.
Was smaller than we expected, but it was arranged well in the space and was really informative.
Includes the ability to listen to different albums and even play a drum kit yourself.
The guy running it was very friendly and we had a good time.

It’s a bit chaotic just like punk! Loved learning about Icelandic punk bands. The owner was a delight. Recommended for punk & music lovers.
