Elding is a tour supplier in Reykjavik offering whale watching and other adventures at sea all year round. We are conveniently located just off Reykjavik's old harbor.

The various types of whales commonly sighted include minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises and the popular humpback whales. We will be accompanied by sea birds such as gannets, puffins, guillemots, cormorants, gulls, kittiwakes, arctic terns, and many more. Check our online Whale Diary for daily updates on whale sightings.

To make our tours even more comfortable, we provide our passengers with warm (and floatable) overalls and raincoats. For safety reasons, all children under 12 years of age are required to wear life jackets during the tour.

Well, we didn't see any whales, I'm told it was a bit early in the year.......but like so many things in Iceland one is at the mercy of the elements and nothing from the northern lights to the elves is guaranteed to be seen! That said there are dolphins around and many interesting sea birds. The views on a clear... More

We enjoyed our afternoon out with Elding. We saw a pod of dolphins and a minke whale. We were lucky to have a very enthusiastic guide who knew her stuff. Would have been nice to see more whales but that's the chance you take

I want to tell you that the whale watching experience we just had (20/05 - 13.00) was an absolute disaster. Firstly we were very late informed that we were leaving from another harbor, adding 1h to our travel time. Secondly, the fact that we had this tour in such poor conditions, is really making us feel like you just wanted... More

Super few hours spent whale watching. Helpful staff. Warm overalls provided so perfectly cosy and comfortable. Super guide, And a free return trip given when there was little whale action. On second trip, we saw whales and porpoises thanks to the vigilance of staff who were determined to make the trip successful.

Actually we wanted to do a whale-whatching-tour in Olafsvik or Grundarfjördur on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, which are known for whale whatching, but there it was booked out for the next 3 days, though we were there in low season (April). So we decided to do the tour with Elding in Reykjavik. The boat was good, the staff was nice and... More

The friendly, knowledgeable and very enthusiastic staff made the experience of seeing whales and dolphins in nature an even bigger experience. A great experience for both children and adults.

My wife and I went whale watching with Elding, it consisted of a 3 hour boat trip during which we saw porpoises, a pod a white beaked dolphins and a minke whale. The whale was exceptional- we got a close up view for about 10-15 minutes. We were provided with all-in-one water and weather proof overalls which were really handy.... More

What an amazing night! It was a short walk from our hotel so we didn't need bus pick up and drop off, although they do offer it. They have a nice waiting area indoors so you can grab and drink and hang before you board. After boarding, we put on our jumpsuits to protect against the cold, got some hot... More

This was good. Not wow but a good well organised trip. The boat is great and everything is well organised. The only problem was if you go on a big boat you just don't get that close. Also the captain seemed to like pointing the boat straight ahead when we did stumble upon any whales etc so if you were... More
