I had an excellent day at Ishestar on the Viking Express ride, helped by stunning weather. The horses were in good condition and well looked after, the staff very friendly but seemed a bit too busy! The ride itself was great. My one negative comment is with respect to their communication, emails went unanswered and the online chat facility a... More

I found the staff was very helpful. I had injured my hip previous to my trip and didn't realize how difficult it would make mounting the horse. The staff was patient and helped until I was able to mount. Our beginner group was small so no one felt they were holding the group back.

The guides were particularly unhelpful. Nobody helped with the riding outfits which were haphazardly thrown on to benches (as were the boots). The instructions were inadequate for safety. Nobody helped with adjusting the saddles or mounting the horses, despite repeated requests. The guides spent most of the 45 minute ride conversing with each other rather than explaining the terrain that... More

I had no real experience riding horses so they assigned me a very mellow, nice horse on the ride and provided plenty of guidance along the way. The horses were absolutely delightful, the staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and patient, the scenery was otherworldly. I highly recommend their lava tour for anyone without riding experience, and I'd bet their more advanced... More

I went on the lava tour in December and enjoyed it so much. Pick up from the hotel was easily arranged. The horses are unique and interesting animals, our guides were knowledgeable and clearly had bonds with the horses. All gear is provided and you watch a safety and demo video before you go out. I really enjoyed the experience,... More

This trip was planned for letting unexperienced horsebackriders (kids) see the horses and try some riding. Pickup worked as planned, and the kids were allowed to ride for approximately 30 minutes. The company responded quickly on E-mails during working days, but in the weekend response was slow. Much waiting, but the kids had fun anyway.

If you enjoy riding or are curious about the Icelandic horses, please go check them out at Ishestar Horse Riding. The horses are gentle, and the people at Ishestar take care in pairing you with a horse that has a temperament that the feel will suit your riding skill level including those that sate riding for the first time. Actual... More

My teenage daughter and I went horse back riding. We are novices. The weather was brutal but we still had a great time! Cold weather gear was available. Bring gloves and a hat. Attentive staff. We left a coat at the stables and staff was kind enough to send it back later in the day with a driver. That was... More

Very nice tour. They give you all the appropriate equipment so you don't need to thing about boots or waterproof jackets/pants. They divide groups in beginners and more advanced, so suitable for anyone really. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is that they don't really describe what you are gonna see, guides are more focused on... More
