We stopped at Laufas on a tour from our cruise ship. Gives you an idea of how people lived in the past, lots of interesting artifacts, beautiful scenery, wonderful Church and grave years with a reasonable gift shop. Worth the time to visit.

A beautiful turf farm and church offering insight into life in Iceland in the old days. Very picturesque setting with a view over the fjord.

It was interesting to see how multiple structures were joined together to build a large dwelling. The floors tend to be uneven and the ceilings low, so be careful when looking at the many small rooms.

We visited this location as part of a bus tour. We did a self-guided tour and found it very easy to navigate. Floors are very uneven and there are several steps into rooms and very steep stairs to the upper floors. Would not recommend for...More

Laufas Folk Museum is a complex of turf roof houses that expanded over time. The style of turf clad timber building stretches back to the Middle Ages. A number of these houses are linked together by passageways. The lower floors were the living spaces with...More

This is a nice little site, quiet and offering a glimpse into how Icelanders used to live and their ingenuity in building and keeping warm without a lot of wood.

The Farmhouse is a car ride away from the ships docking area . You would have to book a private trip or use a local taxi company .
