This was my favorite place in Iceland. We got lucky with the weather and were able to visit Namaskard, Krafla area: Krafla lava fields and crater, and the nature baths. It is a magical place and everything is close by. Possible to do everything in 1-2 days. I didn't want to leave!

Not to miss!!! We spent 2 days in that area, but we could have spend more. The lake is beautiful and there are many attractions around. From there wr headed to Askja. It took us 3.5 hours to reach the place with a good 4wd car.

We were advised not to miss this place, but in comparison for instance with the glacier Jokusarlon, whale watching, geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and other places the lake Myvatn can be skipped. Moskytoes, very bad opportunities to eat, go further a bit and stay in

We spent a whole day in the Myvatn area, and it was hardly enough to see it all. Our favorite places were: 1. Lake Myvatn - spooky and calm on this day 2. Dimmuborgir - a Fairyland of volcanic spires 3. Hverfell - an easily accessible cinder cone volcano 4. Grjotagja - a multi-colored, sulfurous hydrothermal springs area 5. Lake... More

Myvatn us such a beautiful place....The lake is stunning and there is a volcano tuft you can walk up. The view is breath taking and you can see the glow from the lava at bardabunga....I couldn't believe my eyes

Knew very little about it before coming....thank god we didn't miss it!! Soooo much here to see and loads of it is self guided and free... Pseudo craters, Namaflall, lava jungle, lava colums, climbing the volcano ,,,even petting the cows and eating at vogafloss, geothermal pools, watching life on the lake. Loft heller ice cave......the big ticket though without hesitation... More

The boiling mud pots are a must! Many lava fields, and caves, looks fake even in person! The most unique and strange place i have ever seen!

Beautiful, exciting location - you must visit! The walks are mostly easy and accessible to most - take the advice of a ranger based on your timing and mobility level, though. This is one of the more commercialised areas in Iceland, but it's still beautifully underplayed compared to mainland Europe or the USA.
