They are not open for public during the winter months - only during the services and musical events. During the summer they are open for public as well. It's a bit outside the very centre of the city but definitely worth the walk. The interior...More

Lars Sonck is hardly a household name outside of Finland, but he was a truly brilliant architect who created some wonderful Art Noveau churches, which are often known as National Romantic buildings in Scandanavia. This one dates from 1905. Though not as radically modern as...More

Archangle Michael's church is one of the biggest ones in Turku. The inside of it is very basic lutheran so quite plain, but still beautiful in a simple way. Definitely worth taking a look!

A creation of the famous Finnish architect Lars Sonck when only 23 years old. A truly beautiful church rich in detail. Make sure to enter the church: the interior is something to see, too. The church is not in the immediate city centre, but it...More

This was a beautiful find. We were walking back to the train station after having seen the river walk, and stumbled upon this gem of a church. If you are in Turku, it is a must see.

I don't think that this will be on a lot of tourist's must-see lists but it is really incredible. The striking neogothic exterior hides the stunning art nouveau interior. Be sure to check the opening hours though, before you make the walk.

I spotted the spires of the church from a hill and searched for it. It is about 10-15 minute walk from the city centre (about 4 blocks away from Aura river). The church is absolutely beautiful!

This church wasn't on my list of places to see in Turku but as I was walking around there it was so I got in. And it's just beautiful. I was the only person at the church so I stayed there longer than usual, the...More
