The main piece of interest on the hill is the statue "Shipwrecked" of a family fighting for dear life on a piece of drift wood in the middle of a storm. From there you can have a good view of the harbour and boats leaving for Sweden and also look at the parking lot which would have been the Guggenheim... More

This is one of the oldest and most historic parks of Helsinki. It is built, as the name suggests, on a hill – and you can enjoy some pleasant views from there. The park is green, there are some flowers and a small fountain at the edge of the park, and it’s also a popular picnic destination. The surrounding part... More

You climb the hill to reach the observatory. So it is built at high grounds. There is a beautiful park surrounding the observatory. The high park will give you a view of part of the harbour and sea. For some reason the observatory was closed so we didn't get the chance to go in. Nevertheless we enjoyed the scenes of... More

Nice place on the top of a hill in the nicest park in Helsinki. Next to sea and in the old Helsinki Area. Views over the sea or over the buildings are beautiful and visit to park is also a must.

Big park with a very nice view of the sea. There is the observatory at the hill which is nice. If you want long walk and then sit back and relax and enjoy either the green or the sea view, this is a great place to visit. You can have your own picnic or enjoy the nice cafe Ursula by... More

A hill, very close to Market Square / Kauppatori and Esplanad park. Excellent place for a picnic – buy some lunch from Market Square and enjoy the excellent views. On the top is located astronomical observatory (built 1834, nowadays obsolete and not in active use). Large areas of lawn, very suitable for picnic. The eastern side is steeply sloping, and... More

I visited this park on Sunday morning and the park was full of trash after wild partying on the previous night. The park itself is not located to any nice place, and it doesn't have any nice statues or water elements. I was dissappointed.

I was drawn here by an intense green laser light that was coming from the direction of the site in the evening. I tracked it down, and found the green laser coming from the site was in recognition of a particular anniversary significant to the city of Helsinki. Interesting spot and worth an off-the-path visit if you're nearby or if... More

Calm beautiful place overlooking the bay away. With pleasure, you can walk even in winter. Besides the wonderful natural views nice to look at building the Helsinki Observatory, originally designed by C. L. Engel (1834). Historically Observatory Hill (Tähtitorninmäki) was called Fire Hill because fires were lit on the hill to warn people of an imminent attack.
