We only saw this church from the outside while going to the harbour markets. The church just stands on a massive natural rock formation.

Walking distance from downtown waterfront. Most lovely and very picturesque. I did not go up to it, but just the up close view was worth the walk.

The climb up to the cathedral is rewarded with fantastic views of the harbours. Inside the cathedral is quite stunning. I would have liked some information in English but was happy enough just soaking in the architecture.

Absolutely beautiful, inside and out. So much more breathtaking in real life. Definitely a must-see.

Perched up on a hillside, the red brick church with green oxidized onion domes was amazing! Beautiful architecture, largest orthodox church in Western Europe and full of icons. Gold leaf em-blazes the alter. Notice the lack of pews, service is conducted while standing. Originally built...More

From the outside it was very impressive. However, it is closed on Monday, the day we went, so don't know about the inside.

In comparison to Helsinki Cathedral this is much more what you would expect ie more ornate. Built in the mid-late 19th Century it is the largest orthodox church in Western Europe. Lovely views over the harbour from it's vantage point and great coffee shops nearby

Gorgeous acrhitecture and fantastic detail inside the church. Free to visit and would recommend having a look if you have time, but not a must see.

A lovely brick church copper roof with gold accents up on the hill above the waterfront. Picturesque, and still in use as a church

It's closed on Monday. They are only opened for a couple of hours on other days if the week too. Though it is worth going in, just looking at the church and walking around it to see the 360 view of Helsinki bay is nice, too.
