If the travel posters were still on exhibit I'd give the place an excellent rating, as it was one of the best, most interesting displays I've seen.

The museum is located in a fantastic building and its collection showcases the very roots of Finlands history. The new prehistory exhibition has used newest technology thus one can dive into the ancient local history using all senses. The kids "under the roof" -area called...More

Housed in a building that looks like a chapel, this museum is charmingly entertaining. I enjoyed the prehistory of Finland section with all the exhibits accompanied by helpful explanations in English. The Come to Finland special exhibition which hopefully will be made permanent is a...More

The most likable part was the exhibition on tourism posters in Finland. The permanent collections are poorly displayed and inadequately lit. And some of the rooms were closed for renovation. There is an interactive section but it is for 10-year olds and the technology is...More

I love museums and found this one to be particularly well designed (Which if no surprise as it is in FINLAND!) Personally, I found the Viking exhibitions to be the most interesting aspects of the museum which is a bit disappointing as I wanted to...More

I really enjoyed the travel poster exhibit currently on and met the organizer who works in a shop there. Worth a visit some great displays. The permanent museum isn't great. Not a lot if interest. I'd strongly suggest they visit the national museum in Scotland...More

This is an old-school museum with rather dusty displays, but the English explanations are quite good. Also, there's a "workshop" room for children that is really excellent. It has tons of hands-on teaching fun, like kid-sized lightweight logs notched and ready to build actual kid-sized...More
