I think they are preparing for the 100th anniversary in 2017 - so there is a lot of work going on. Be nice if you are here in 2017 but not so great in 2016!!! It is what it is - at least they had it covered with a giant drop cloth with an image on the building - trying... More

Coming from the Ring Rail Line from the airport to my hotel with my suitcases it seemed as though the building works had been completed. I could see the red granite (rapakivi) and the columns in the front of the building. But it was a mask. They had replaced the plain plastic sheeting of last year with sheeting with a... More

The Parliament house is ongoing a long renovation and is scheduled to open latest on the day when Finland has its 100th anniversary next year. This is the center of the city so there are a lot of other interesting buildings to take a look at just around it, the Music House, the National Museum, Finlandia Hall, Kiasma Museum of... More

It is the largest building I saw in Helsinki. It had much construction taking place so it needed some effort to enjoy its majestic appearance. I was amazed with the amount of granite in the building.

I stay in an hotel just over the road from the parliament building, so I have seen it loads of times. It's impressive, but a bit stifling. However, parts of it were covered up for renovations in June and I understand that the situation is even worse at the moment, so, unless in the area, maybe this is one to... More

looks like Christo was here... The whole parliament is packed and covered for reconstruction. Nothing to see, neither from inside nor from outside. It will have to wait for your next visit to Helsinki...

Impressive building and close to the city centre, this building is worth looking at and stopping for some photo opportunities.

So you are walking across the town of Helsinki and a beautiful building catches your eye, it can be the Parliament of Finland. Huge and magnificent, the parliament of Finland is situated in a beautiful part of the city. The church next to the parliament and the park opposite the parliament only add to the picturesque scenario.
