Only 15/20 minutes away from Helsinki, you start with the ferry to the Fort...this was a great daytrip for the afternoon, specially in the winter. There were very few tourists, the visitors quickly spread across the fort and you can have a great day there. The island was very idyllic, specially by the water. The sunset there was breathtaking!

Suomenlinna and Seurasaari are the two main sights in Helsinki. Both historical places surrounded by nature. Finns go here with piknik-basket. On a sunny Day also swim here. Many museums. Try for example the Privately owned Toy Museum. Ferry from Market Square in every 20 minutes is part of the public transportation. Has Siwa-Supermarket close to the main Marina. In... More

We were expecting a small island with a fortress in the middle. In fact, 4 connected islands, with really a lot to see, yes the fortress, and many other interesting buildings, villages with handcrafts workshops, cafes and restaurants, ... Spend 3 hours there, and really some good time.

theres not that much to do in Helsinki. Getting a boat out to the island was pretty good but once you're there, not so much to see, Make sure you walk to the Kings Gate as that was probablyh the best bit. Caught my first pikachu here so that was a highlight (near the main dock)

Fortress of Soumenlinna is a good place to visit to understand the history of Finland area and the relationship with Russia and neighboring countries.

It was cold and raining on the day I went to the Fortress of Suomenlinna, but I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the small island and looking at the military architecture. Be aware that the cafe's and restaurants are not open early.

We took a ferry over to this island in -4 celcius but it was still worth it! The architecture may remind you of Russia - beautiful. Lots of history - named a Unesco site. Would recommend. The ferry takes you for free if you have a transportation pass for the tram/train.

This is a very nice, history attraction. If you have Helsinki card then you'll get a free guided tour. This is a Must see.
