If in Helsinki go see this place. Lots of stall with local nick nacks to sell but best are the restaurants with local food, salmon, potatoes, soup or just coffee. I love the place and I always go there for moiko. You will not regret a visit here.

The square is nice located next to the harbor and the new outdoor swimming pool. While we were there was a nice market on the Saturday. There was a nice and cozy ambiance and I had hoped that they also had some kind of activity on Sundays - but not.

The market place is good for seeing people and be seen. You see all sorts of finns and tourists from all over the worls. Nixon was therre and clinton had coffe in one of the tents. And you can study all type of fishes caught in Finland or Norwegian salmon. Flowers, fruit , berries, tourist things and many tents with... More

If you're lucky to visit Helsinki in the warmer months, make sure you pass by Kauppatori and get your souvenirs from one of the local sellers. Then grab a local lohikeitto and a litre of green peas and head to the waterfront to enjoy your lunch break. Try to visit earlier in the day for a larger selection of food!

Which it was not when our Princess Cruise Tour dropped us off at Senate Square and my wife and I walked down here to take a look. It was a dark and overcast morning. The souvenir stalls were open but there is not much here except for the thousands of cigarette butts on the ground. You would think these folks... More

Well, a definitely spot to visit and grab a bite, on your way to some elsewhere. Take some time, and look around. Visit before noon to get the best out of it.

A good place to go for souvenirs. We purchased our traditional fridge magnet and also a very reasonably-priced winter bobble hat which was worn straight away.

Recommended by my travel book we strolled the market before we had some food. It is obviously catered for the tourist and a bit overpriced. However, we enjoyed it and had good food in one of the many stall next to the waterfront. I would recommend to go there. There are many other places to visit around and the ferry... More

I give 4 points of the atmosphere, views (sea!) and nice cafes for the Kauppatori market. The only negative point is, that the market is VERY much priced for tourists so it is very expensive and not the original style of a Finnish market. If you want to see an original market with average rices and not that "touristic", do... More
