Overview
More
The castle is situated in the center of Linkoping. The oldest part of the building is dated 1150. The Linkoping Castle- & Cathedral museum tells the story about a medieval Bishop’s stronghold that was turned into a castle. The treasury chamber in the castle holds unique silver and textiles from the Middle Ages and onwards. Every year we have new, occasional exhibitions with medieval theme. The museum is also accessible for disabled. Guided groups by prior arrangement at all times. We have guided tours every saturday at 11.00. During summer we have one guided tour every day at 11.00.

The castle in Linköping is quite nice. I did not go inside to visit the museum, but the surroundings are quite nice, with the garden and the river. Nice place for a picnic also!

The lady that staffs this palace is so friendly and inviting. She is eager to educate you on the history of Linkoping and the area. The museum is not elaborate but good for a bit of local color and history.
