With its high-end shopping facilities and Michelin-starred restaurants, Östermalm is definitely the poshest part of central Stockholm. Here you will find Stockholm’s most majestic residential buildings, a beautiful market hall from 1888 displaying gourmet foods from around the world and the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre with its awe-inspiring architecture. At night, legendary nightclubs make the perfect location to observe the natives (and those aspiring to become natives of this exclusive neighborhood) in their natural habitat and to enjoy the latest produce of the Swedish house music scene.

Stockholm is a beautiful city, and Strandvagen is just one area that exemplifies this. Definitely worth exploring on any visit to Sweden's gorgeous capital city. It's very pedestrian-friendly (and family-friendly), so walking or biking is easy. Take your time; enjoy the water, the stately buildings, the cool architecture, all of it.

In good weather, take a walk from Nybroviken along Strandvägen promenade all the way to Djurgården. Enjoy the lovely buildings at the left side of the road while enjoying the sun, water and boats on the right. Possibly stop at any of the small cafés and restaurants on your way.

Nice place to dream about living in one of the many historic, architecturally interesting luxury flats. If you can find one available for sale and to your liking, don't forget to bring a very large stack of cash with you. The waterside is charming.although water taxi not running this time of year. Don't forget to stop, inhale deeply and listen along the waterfront promenade.

Misc: Can you find the two obelisks that show in LED lighting Stockholm's up-to-the minute environmental air-water quality etc?

It is the zone from Nybrokajen to Nobel Park, lined with a belt of trees on the first side and with a belt of boats on the second side. Ideal for walking or if you go to see the Abba museum or other near museums.

Visited both in the summer and in October. August is definitely the better of the two. Vibrant, everything open. Restaurant at berth 18, Anbatsbryggen, is certainly worth a visit on a warm summer evening.

There is a public ferry that goes out to the archipelago islands several times a day. This trip takes a couple of hours, more if you want to venture farther out to the Baltic Sea. Great way to see the outskirts of Stockholm, and a ticket is only about $10. Much better than the numerous tourist excursions --the views are the same!

Has lots of boat tours that leave from there. Nice walking area. Expensive restaurants. Fashionable. Not much else. Go see and move on

We went there to catch a ferry for the Archipelago cruise, and spent a lot of time walking along the pier when we returned. Across the pier is a succession of historic buildings, a tree-lined pedestrian island in the middle of the wide road, upmarket hotels, stores and cafes, and everything else that pleases the eye.

Give yourself 2 hours to enjoy Strandvagen on foot.
