Within a 15' walk from hotel Hasson you can find this lovely church.Been inaugurated 10 of June 1906. The dome is located 60 meters high. The church has 1.000 seats, which makes it one of the biggest parish churches in Stockholm. The most important ornament is the high altar from the 18th century. The altar is the biggest Baroque-style work sculpturein... More

The power of churches is inside, their spirit... This place has no spirit. But I think that citizens treats that church simply as the place of meetings. So no need to go into, just admire the neighborhood.

Stumbled across this church en route to another location, this church is hidden behind a concrete mass. Not really my thing, but this building was "different" enough to warrant my having a good look.

This is perhaps the most baroque of Stockholm churches. It has impressive altar sculptures. It's situated in a rather uninteresting part of the city so unless you have other business near by you will probably not see it.

It's in the opposite direction from most of the other usual Stockholm sites, but the Gustav Vasa Kyrka is worth the longish walk. This Italian baroque church features a 200-foot dome, impressive frescoes, and a 1731 altarpiece.

Staying in Vasastan

Neighbourhood Profile
Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
