The Unesco World Heritage Skogskyrkogården is beautiful all year round, much due to the unique way it is woven into the landscape. The cemetery never closes, so you can easily acces the World Heritage when you prefer, throughout the year. More than 2,000 funeral ceremonies take place at the Skogskyrkogården each year. This means that the five chapels are in frequent use and therefore closed to the public. If you are interested in the chapels and their interiors, come along for a public guided tour or book a private tour. We also have audio and visitor's guides, which you can download prior to your visit. Please visit our website for more information.

I was amazed in the first place to see a cemetery on the list of "To do" in a city. It is indeed a very strange place to be in, let alone to visit during a trip abroad. It has a morbid and strange scent all over it.

This church yard is so much more than the name. It is a lovely placve to walk in, shaped by one of the most famous architechs in Sweden Gunnar Asplund. A place with calm. 1 of November the candlelights are overwelming.

This cemetery is not scary. It's too big for being cosy but I feel that I couldn't find a better place for waiting for the eternity.

We went to Skogskyrkogarden (which translates to Woodland garden) by subway, and while we had to ask directions when we got to the stop, it was not difficult to find. It is a peaceful, beautiful cemetery with tall trees and meandering paths. A UNESCO site recognizing the unique use of land for the cemetery, it is an example of the... More

I got here by train. Enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. I even saw a few deers. Can you imagine how peaceful this place is if you have deers? I went to the Chapel. A gardener brought me in and he explained to me on the architecture of the chapel and why it was built such. Really enjoyed it here, although I... More

Had waited a long time to visit this place but wow, it was better than I had imagined. No longer wondering why it received its Unesco World Heritage status. Calm, serene and beautiful, with the different chapels displaying different architectural styles. Admittedly we did have wonderful weather (sunny autumn) when we visited but as long as the rain isn't pouring... More

Worth a visit. Maybe if you're in Stockholm for just a couple of days then you can skip it.. But if you're in Stockholm for more than two three days, then you have to visit it. It might be strange to review a grave yard, but this one is much different from many grave yards.

This place is very close to central Stockholm and it's unbelievable how green it is, in the summer the tall trees provide ample shade to walk under them and it's a new experience to see a cemetery in the woods, definitely interesting.

A Unesco World Heritage site designation for a cemetery is a bit surprising. But it's calm, serene and not at all morbid to wander round this highly influential woodland cemetery on a nice day, enjoying the fresh smell of the woodland. Easy to get to by metro, also has a small cafe and information centre.

I can see why this is on the UNESCO World Heritage site. Its absolutely surreal to be here. The architecture, the landscape., the designing of this cemetery is breathtaking. There is no fee to get in and enjoy this. A must see! When we went there were many active funerals and this is a place that people are still laid... More
